    Sales and Business Development Manager Southern Africa - Midrand

     

    What You Can Expect

    The successful incumbent will be responsible for leading Fuel and Lubrication (G-EVO) Business in Southern Africa. Identify key industries for business development to support business growth in Southern Africa for all the different product portfolio for BASF and support the market development activities in the region. Duties will include the following:

    • Collaborate across business units, market development community and other key stakeholders to drive business growth in the region, while adhering to compliance with all BASF guidelines and procedures. (e.g. Code of Conduct, Values and Principles, BASF Strategy)
    • Grow Fuel and Lubes business in the region and proactively look for new business models and opportunities e.g. localization, sustainability, digitalization
    • Represent Fuel and Lubricant Solutions in the region and actively look for new markets
    • Drive business and market development projects that have direct impact on business growth
    • Support with updating of registration records and other administrative topics as necessary
    • Assist with field day’s events organization
    • Full profit and loss responsibility for Fuel and Lubes (G-EVO) business in country cluster Southern Africa
    • Drive the business and market development activities to support business growth in the Southern Africa region
    • Develop business plans to support business growth in line with the identified markets
    • Maintain and develop customer relationship and other key stakeholders required to explore business opportunities and increase sales
    • Responsible for safety of people especially in technical service (work risk assessment)
    • Establish broad relationships with customers in the region
    • Identify and implement possible improvements to business processes
    • Compile and monitor sales budgets, suggest actions to close budget gaps or exceed budget
    • Ensure ongoing market intelligence (e.g. market demand, market shares, competitor analysis, etc)
    • Provide operational guidance and support of the relevant Customer Service Officer, responsible for Sales &Operational process
    • Self and team adherence to and compliance with all BASF guidelines and procedures. (e.g. Code of Conduct, Values and Principles, BASF Strategy)
    • Responsible for performance management process, talent management process and career development of direct reports
    • Active representation of BASF’s interests (e.g. industry associations)
    • Interaction and cooperation with relevant internal interfaces / service units

    What We Expect

    • Tertiary qualification in Chemistry or Engineering
    • Minimum 5 years experience in the Sales, Marketing and/or Market Development in the Chemical or Petrochemical industry with at least 2 years in leadership
    • Sales experience in Angola and Mozambique will be an advantage
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and team player
    • Excellent internal and external stakeholder management skills
    • Strong communication verbally and written
