Procurement Manager: ESD at Sappi

As Procurement Manager: ESD you will be responsible for:

• Implement sustainable ESD and preferential procurement initiative which would contribute to Sappi’s broader B-BBEE objectives.
• Operationalise spend analyses focussed on contribution to BBBEE compliance.
• Translate procurement spend into measurable opportunities for BBBEE initiatives.
• Have an understanding of the overarching value chain and its systems.
• Manage ease of migration (shifting the commodity to greater contributing BBBEE suppliers) and execute.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders (Engineering, Procurement and Stakeholder relations departments and Municipalities, Community structures and Partners).
• Categorize ESD opportunities and formulate operational implementation plans.
• Execute procurement and ESD interventions as determined by the Regional Sourcing Manager.
• Execute the sourcing strategy or supplier development strategy as determined by the Regional Sourcing Manager.
• Implement a commercially effective strategic commodity sourcing framework for high spend commodities and materials, across Sappi Southern Africa and all its mills.
• Implement contracting and / or supplier development plan, align expectation of business with the requirements of BBBEE.
• Foster stakeholders relationships e.g. suppliers, internal customers, industry peers, support functions etc. to achieve strategic business objectives.
• Advise business Operations on procurement market intelligence and risk management relating to BBBEE.
• Influence aligning procurement policies and procedures and standardisation practice across procurement.
• Contribute to appropriate integrated business processes and systems for procurement, as enablers for BBBEE.
• Coordinate and monitor goals of Preferential Procurement, Enterprise and supplier development, Socio economic development, Sappi-wide BBBEE efforts and the security of supply.
• Report on the jobs created and the ESD budget utilisation on a monthly basis.

What are we looking for?

• Relevant Degree or Diploma in Procurement, Commercial or Engineering
• A minimum of 5 – 8 years’ experience in procurement.
• Experience in the technical and/or manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
