    Occupational Therapist - Somerset West

    Faircape Health, a division of the Faircape Group, owns and manages six luxury lifestyle villages with state-of-the-art and technologically advanced Healthcare Centres at each village.

    We are seeking an experienced and energetic person to fulfil the role of Occupational Therapist 

    This role will be a combination and the successful incumbent's main responsibility will be to provide comprehensive Occupational Therapy services to the residents and patients at Bridgewater Manor in Somerset West

    Occupational Therapy duties include but are not limited to the following:

    • Direct intervention tasks such as assessment, intervention planning, intervention implementation, group activity planning & facilitation
    • Individual stimulation program planning 
    • Arrange support groups. 
    • Planning and organising of special events 
    • Recordkeeping and administrative duties.
    • Attend and participate in monthly MDT meetings.
    • Ensure the department and program runs smoothly.
    • Partake in meetings
    • Adhoc/temporary support services.
    • Supervision of OT student
    • Coordinate volunteer workers 
    • Development of written health promotion materials and newsletters.
    • Participate in staff training events as needed
    • Team participation in healthcare center operations. 
    • Assist with pre-admission, admission and discharge of patients. 
    • Promote staff team building. 
    • Partake in staff evaluation & orientation.

    Qualifications 

    • Degree in Occupational Therapy and registered as an Occupational Therapist with HPCSA

    Experience and Knowledge 

    • Proven experience as an Occupational Therapist
    • Preferably has experience in Geriatrics, Dementia, or mental health and facilitating groups, media content knowledge 

    Skills and Attributes 

    • Dependable, responsible, and good communication skills.
    • Compassionate and gentle nature. 
    • Empathetic manners, the successful candidate will have excellent client/customer service skills. 
    • Keen interest to work in geriatric subacute/acute environments.
    • Conflict handling skills.
    • Ethical and integrity.
    • The incumbent should be well presented and professional.
    • Computer literate
    • Well-spoken and presentable
