    Network Engineer

    Role: Network Engineer
    Main Purpose:

    • The Network Engineer is responsible for effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, monitoring and maintenance of network hardware, software and related infrastructure. The Network Engineer is to provide level 2 and 3 network capabilities and skills. Primary objectives includes complex router and switch configuration, network monitoring and providing reliable and efficient solutions through best practices.

    Reporting Structure: Reports to the Network Manager
    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Provide effective network administration by
    • Performs standard Network Administration procedures including but not limited to the configuration of network switches, routers and wireless controllers and access points.
    • Troubleshooting of data circuits between sites in an enterprise LAN\WAN (SDWAN) environment.
    • Managing data networks, local (LAN) and wide area (SDWAN) networks.
    • Support, maintenance and configuration of Cisco network equipment and operating systems.
    • Perform equipment, software and firmware updates as recommended by industry standards and directed by the Network Manager.
    • Works with Systems Administrators, Application and End user support teams to provide support for production and non-production systems.
    • Utilize Cisco network management software and hardware to identify and correct problems within the data network as well as network equipment.
    • Monitoring network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made.
    • Assisting the IT department with various IT-related upgrades, projects, and tasks.
    • Documenting network configuration and operational procedures.
    • In accordance with other staff, evaluate and implement new technologies for data communications related to data, voice, and video.
    • Assist efforts to diagnose and resolve complex system configuration, production and deployment problems.
    • Evaluating emerging network products and technologies.
    • Interface with vendors and service provider groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance.
    • Assist with technical training to end users.
    • Compiling and distributing monthly reports.
    • Identify areas for network automation

    Qualification Requirements:
    The following qualifications or a combination thereof will be beneficial:

    • Formal Cisco qualifications and relevant work experience.
    • CCNP routing and switching (Cisco Certified Network Professional) preferable.
    • ITIL qualification.

    Competencies and Skills Requirements:

    • At least 4 years general IT experience of with 2 years in networking.
    • Advanced networking knowledge.
    • Proficiency with LAN/WAN technologies.
    • Good understanding of Quality of Service.
    • Be able to build simple workflows and activities through network scripting, automation and orchestration
    • Solve complex problems with effective decision making.
    • Proactive, resilient and enthusiastic.
    • Ability to handle pressure situations.
    • Must have good people skills and possess ability for strategic and critical thinking
    • Effective report writing and ability to gather relevant information to supplement reports and statistical documentation.
    • High level of patience and professionalism.
    • Teamwork and good communication skills.
    • Initiative and self-motivator.

    Grade and Remuneration:

    • Senior Associate

    Additional Requirements:

    • Driver’s license required.
    • Frequent travel.
    • Occasional overtime.
    • Willing to be escalation point according to standby schedule.
