    Maintenance Team Leader

    Purpose of the role:

    • The Maintenance Team Leader is responsible for monitoring and driving the execution of maintenance plans across the Packaging, Brewing & Utilities. 
    • The Maintenance Team Leader is responsible for the activities of approximately 7 Maintenance Technicians reporting to the role.

    Key responsibilities:

    Maintenance Programmes:

    • To coordinate maintenance activities across the sections at the Production department.
    • To order the execution of maintenance and inspections in compliance with the agreed maintenance concept (work-flow control).
    • To call in assistance in respect of, and to remedy, breakdowns in three-shift operation.
    • After consultation with the maintenance coordinators, to draw up weekly and monthly maintenance planning in respect of the deployment of personnel.
    • To chair the team consultation and to ensure the execution of the ensuing decisions and activities.
    • In consultation with maintenance planners and Installation Controllers, to apply priorities to the execution of the activities.
    • To ensure the dissemination of best practices in the field of maintenance within Production.
    • To contribute to the implementation & execution of the brewery’s TPM, PM and AM.

    Maintenance Optimisation:

    • To optimise the work of the Maintenance Group workforce and of maintenance technicians in compliance with the multi-year plan.
    • To optimise maintenance activities.
    • To effectively and efficiently deploy the maintenance personnel reporting to him.
    • To ensure a clear supply of information to the maintenance group in respect of the department’s structure.
    • To ensure the availability of all required specialism’s by drawing on the departments’ own personnel or by hiring in third parties.
    • To (co-)direct the development of professional technical knowledge within Production, particularly among the operators.
    • To evaluate the progress of the organisation process with the Manager, Maintenance Department and the Section Managers.

    Maintenance Policy:

    • To contribute to the maintenance policy of Production.
    • To draw up the maintenance group’s budget for Maintenance Department’s operational plan.
    • To draw up instructions and procedures in respect of the handling of routine orders, from request up to and including execution and settlement in SAP.

    People Development:

    • To direct, to develop and to support the personnel reporting to him.
    • To ensure uniform establishment of roles and responsibilities.
    • To coach and to appraise personnel, to hold performance interviews.
    • To initiate training courses/training plans.
    • To ensure optimum availability of personnel, both in the medium and the long term.
    • To provide direction and to develop professional knowledge within the team.
    • Evaluation of technicians’ and third parties’ performance.

    Safety, Health and Environment:

    • Ensure the department operates within company SHE standards and OHS Act, through continued education and training and obtaining the co-operation and commitment of all staff to observe all safety rules, procedures and processes in order to drive zero accident mentality.

    Continuous Improvement:

    • Drive improvement processes and set priorities in order to develop, implement and maintain best-in-class standards and basic conditions.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • 3-4 year apprenticeship with trade test (Fitter/Turner/Millwright/Electrical)
    • N6 or National Diploma in either Mechanical or Electrical engineering or equivalent
