    Maintenance Planner - Pretoria West

    Job Description    

    • RCL Foods is currently looking for a Maintenance Planner to join our Maintenance Business Unit. The role will be based in Pretoria West.
    • The Incumbent will be responsible for assisting the clients (production and engineering) to continuously improve their overall equipment effectiveness, by implementing and administering effective asset management systems and procedures, particularly in the areas of information management, work planning & control, performance measurement, maintenance tactics and spares & materials through the effective delegation and management of available resources (employees/equipment).

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Grade 12 with C aggregates in mathematics and science
    • Have a technical qualification/diploma or be an artisan (T4/S4/N6)
    • Trade test in Electrical or Millwright will be advantageous 

    Experience and Training

    • A minimum of 5 years strong engineering/maintenance/manufacturing experience in a FMCG plant.
    • 2 to 3 years supervisory experience.
    • 2 years industrial purchasing experience
    • Experience in the implementation and operation of a CMMS and be up to date with the latest developments and trends in asset management.
    • Computer literacy – Microsoft Windows (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access)
    • Knowledge of plant and operations
    • Knowledge of preventive maintenance principles and systems
    • Be familiar with the concepts of project planning and scheduling, including the use of project management software.
    • Basic knowledge of financial systems
    • Knowledge of networks and IT

    • Good communication skills towards all levels within the company
    • Be a methodical and systematic worker, comfortable in an office environment with a fair amount of paperwork.
    • Must have a pro-active problem solving approach in the anticipation of problem areas and taking corrective actions to eliminate deviations.
    • Be goal orientated, stable, show integrity and be able to make decisions under pressure.
    • Effective leadership skills and experience in handling IR related problems.

    Company procedures/systems

    • Adhering to all safe working procedures available in the safety manuals
    • Knowledge of the ON KEY maintenance system
    • Knowledge of the financial system
    • Adhering to purchasing procedures as specified within the Engineering Services and Procurement departments.
    • Knowledge and experience in the Engineering-, Stores- and Production- Business Processes.

    Duties & Responsibilities    
    Engineering planning

    • Administration and planning of maintenance activities (includes assistance with maintenance schedules & co-ordination)
    • CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) implementation, optimization, management and system administration (includes day-to-day activities such as client software support and training)
    • Ensuring continuous asset management improvement through organizing of training for engineering personnel
    • Analysis/Interpretation of maintenance history and feedback report preparation (should include an analysis of all AMiP KPI’s and suggested actions)
    • Drawing, documentation and modification control
    • Motivate and control the engineering planning department workforce, maintain discipline, minimize absenteeism and
    • ensure that the team is adequately staffed based on careful consideration of utilization and work backlog information.
    • Management of workforce disciplinary issues and proper documentation of each case.
    • Management of performance measures for the personnel under the position’s control
    • Assisting in the continuous improvement, optimization (schedules reviews) and implementation of preventive maintenance tactics (usage-based, time- based, etc) via processes including OMM and root cause failure analysis.
    • Management of the engineering planning office and the equipment, documents and tools within it

    General

    • Performance assessment of team members
    • Training & development of employees under his/her supervision
    • Meetings (daily & monthly) with the plant’s key personnel (engineering & production) to plan work, transfer information, make decisions and agree on action plans.
    • To ensure effective administrative systems and procedures are being maintained and improved.
    • Assisting the further implementation, optimization and management of the Asset Management Improvement Program (AMIP)
    • Ensuring that all personnel under the control of this position abide by the health & safety regulation.
    • Project management and implementation.
    • Assist with engineering stores management.
    • OHS Act compliance requirements assistance.
