    Linux Engineer L2

    Managed services engineers are responsible for managing and administrating platforms and infrastructure on behalf of our clients. You'll work closely with other members of the team to deliver reliable, secure, scalable IT systems that are able to respond quickly and efficiently in order to meet all customer needs. You will be working within a cross skilled team of seasoned professionals managing various technologies, as well as engaging colleagues from other regions of the globe. Engineers work in a hybrid manner between home and office, depending on their home infrastructure. The successful candidate will bring new ideas into their area of responsibility whilst also being an effective communicator across departments. The successful candidate would have to be at the closest regional offices 3 days per week.

    Key Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Experience managing RHEL, SUSE, Ubuntu and Oracle servers in an enterprise environment.
    • Experience implementing patch and vulnerability management processes.
    • Experience in automating maintenance tasks with scripts and tools such as Ansible.
    • Proactively monitor the work queues.
    • Perform operational tasks to resolve all incidents/requests in a timely manner and within the agreed SLA.
    • Update tickets with resolution tasks performed.
    • Identify, Investigate, analyze issues and errors prior to or when they occur, and log all such incidents in a timely manner.
    • Capture all required and relevant information for immediate resolution
    • Communicate with other teams and clients for extending support.
    • Report and escalate issues to 3rd party vendors if necessary.
    • Work with automation teams for effort optimization and automating routine tasks.
    • Identify problems and errors before they impact a client’s service.
    • Contribute to the change management process by logging all change requests with complete details for standard and nonstandard including patching and any other changes to Configuration Items.
    • Execute changes with clear identification of risks and mitigation plans to be captured into the change record.
    • Ensures all changes are carried out with proper change approvals.
    • Produce trend analysis reports for identifying tasks for automation, leading to a reduction in tickets and optimization of effort.
    • Be willing to work in USA East Coast time zone, 14:00 – 22:00 (SAST)
    • Puppet Experience a plus (configuration management)

    Academic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred, not required
    • Minimum of 3- 5 years of experience in a similar enterprise environment.
    • SUSE Certified administrator (SCA)
    • Red Hat Certified System Adminstrator (RHCSA)
    • Linux Professional Institute LPIC-2
