Lecturer: French (Job ID: 5762) at University of the Free State

Duties and responsibilities: 

• Teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in French (namely French & Francophone language/culture and literature).
• Provide study-guidance and assess student work.
• Conduct and supervise research and produce quality research outputs.
• Contribute to curriculum development in the section and faculty.
• Willingness to participate in community engagement (e.g. involvement in the DELF-DALF exams at levels A1 to C2).
• Contribute towards academic management and administrative tasks related to the department and faculty.

Inherent requirements:

Lecturer

• A PhD on NQF Level 10 in French language or literature (for a permanent appointment) 

or

• Master’s degree on NQF Level 9 in French language or literature (contract appointment: five years during which a PhD on NQF Level 10 in French language or literature  MUST be obtained to be converted to a permanent position). 
• Proven experience in the delivery of papers and presentations at conferences or equivalent activities.
• Proven publication in accredited scientific journals.
• A good academic record.

Recommendations:

• Excellent verbal and written language skills in French (minimum C1/C2 or native-like competency).
• Complete professional command of English.
• Knowledge of Afrikaans, Sesotho, or isiZulu.
