    Engineering Manager

    Overview:

    • Zutari’s Resources Market are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager, with a background in Mining, Petrochemical and Energy Infrastructure to lead and manage the engineering on projects within the Resources Projects Group (RPG). The business has a solid backlog and a healthy order book. Accordingly, the RPG is seeking top project delivery talent to co-create an engineered impact for Zutari and our clients.

    Role Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Responsible to manage and mentor a team of Lead Engineers, Engineers and Digital Experts, for the delivery of single and multi-discipline engineering Mining, Petrochemical and Energy Infrastructure projects.
    • Our projects cover the full lifecycle from concept to commissioning, in both green and brownfield applications, varying in complexity and size, delivered for all the major sectors (Oil & Gas, Mining, Energy, Utilities, Chemicals, Petrochemicals and Manufacturing)
    • Hybrid working environment for projects delivered in Tshwane Office, but you will be expected to travel for projects located across South Africa and Greater Africa
    • Develop and implement engineering policies, procedures, and best practices according to the “Zutari: Way We Work” framework to ensure consistency and quality.
    • Oversee the preparation of engineering modelling, drawings, specifications, calculations, specialist analysis, technical components of enquiry documentation, project procedures, digital/BIM planning and other technical engineering documents.
    • Demonstrate substantial knowledge and awareness of compliance to regulatory requirements, industrial clients and industry standards.
    • Responsible to manage and complete projects the within engineering budget, ensure adequate and appropriate project resource allocation and proactively manage change control within the engineering context.
    • Implementation of solid change control procedures for your team that protect project budgets and timeline on behalf of the client and company
    • Demonstrate an affinity and appreciation for the implementation of advanced engineering delivery techniques, for example BIM Implementation, Computational Design, Design Automation, Standardization and Efficiency improvement.
    • Identify and mitigate project risks.
    • Evaluate employee performance and provide feedback and coaching.
    • Lead and motivate engineering team to achieve project targets and claw back momentum in the case of setbacks
    • Participate in business development activities, bidding and other client interactions.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Extensive experience as an Engineering Manager or Senior Project Engineer, on Industrial focused multi-discipline Engineering, EPCM or EPC projects.
    • Experience developing and implementing an Engineering project schedule, project reporting system and design management plan.
    • Broad experience and knowledge of engineering and digital/modelling disciplines: Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Piping, Automation, EC&I and Process
    • Demonstrable knowledge and experience with all phases of engineering and construction projects: Conceptual, Feasibility Execution, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and Handover
    • Working understanding of common standard forms of contract (NEC3, FIDIC, GCC.)
    • Client focussed and results orientated to deliver top quality deliverables with your engineering and controls team.
    • Understanding critical interdependencies of all engineering disciplines to ensure efficient project effort.
    • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field; master's degree preferred.
    • At least 10 years of experience in engineering management in a multidisciplinary environment, preferably within highly regulated process Industries.
    • Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
    • Effective communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
    • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
    • Experience with budget and resource management.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
    • Professional engineering accreditation (PR/ PR Tech Eng., Chartered Engineer.).
