    Energy Engineer - VKB Properties, Head Office Reitz

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    • We are looking for a talented Energy Engineer to join our dynamic team. As an Energy Engineer, you will play a crucial role in implementing and optimizing energy systems and solutions for VKB. You will collaborate closely with project managers and cross-functional teams to develop sustainable and innovative energy strategies that align with VKB's goals and objectives, including addressing carbon tax and emissions reduction initiatives.
    • In addition, you will be responsible for effectively implementing, revising, and managing VKB's Energy Plan, while driving increased efficiency across relevant divisions within VKB and ensuring compliance with the relevant legislative framework. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects and make a significant impact in the field of energy engineering, specifically within the agricultural sector.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • BIng: Mechanical-, Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering
    • Certified Energy Manager or Certified Energy Auditor accreditation will serve as recommendation
    • Proven experience in Project Management (plan, execution & revision of results to ensure effective implementation)
    • Proven experience in energy engineering, including energy auditing, energy modelling, and system design.
    • Strong knowledge of energy systems, technologies, and regulations, including renewable energy, energy storage, energy management, carbon tax, and emissions reduction.
    • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
    • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
    • Prior experience in working on energy projects with a focus on carbon tax, emissions reduction, and sustainability for industrial, commercial, or institutional clients is a plus.
    • Computer literacy in MS Office Package

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Compile, update and review the overall Energy Management Plan
    • Coordinate Energy Saving Programmes and projects to ensure successful and timeous completion
    • Measure and verify possible savings that have been achieved by implementing control measures
    • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate findings, recommendations, and progress of energy projects including carbon tax and emissions reduction measures, to clients and stakeholders.
    • Develop energy models, perform data analysis, and interpret results to evaluate the performance of energy systems.
    • Stay up to date in terms of electricity prices, relevant legislation and developments in order to advise management on possible risks or opportunities
    • Monitor and analyse energy consumption data, identify deviations from expected performance, and recommend corrective actions.
    • Evaluate energy savings proposals or service offerings from energy saving companies
    • Conduct or arrange energy audits, efficiency tests and investigations within the relevant departments to identify opportunities and possible wastages
    • Assist with general energy related queries and disputes
    • Provide technical expertise and support during the implementation and commissioning of energy projects.
    • Report to top management on progress towards VKB’s energy saving target
    • Compile a yearly CapEx Budget of proposed Energy Saving Projects and expected savings to management for approval
    • Do detailed lifecycle cost and return on investment analysis of proposed projects
    • Prepare invitations for external Service Providers to tender or quote on Energy Saving Projects
    • Build report and maintain good relationships with current and potential contractors or suppliers
    • Devise, provide or oversee training on efficient use of electricity for internal staff
    • Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and technologies related to energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainability.
    • Maintain professional accreditation with Association of Energy Engineers (AEE)
