    Employee Relations Officer

     Purpose of Role

    • This role is a specialist role within the human resources structure responsible to promote effective employee relations practices among employees and the employer. The role must ensure that system, policies and procedures are adhered to.

    Work of Role

    • Effective application and compliance of necessary (Human Resources & Employee Relations) administration systems
    • Ensure compliance of Employee Relations policies and procedures by facilitating management of discipline in operation (speedy resolution of cases and grievances)
    • Prepare adhoc reports for management or other information customers
    • Ensure that safety and legal standards are adhered to
    • Contribute to HR’s planning process (budgeting in terms of business plan and ongoing manning of labour in line with approved BP)
    • Identify opportunities to improve functions and systems in place
    • Identify risks and threats to the HR process/functions proactively
    • Control discipline and ensure fair decisions regarding Industrial Relations by inducting employees, line managers and stakeholders.
    • Monitor the ER processes regularly to ensure conformance to and understanding of standards and procedures by employees, line managers and stakeholders
    • Identify potential conflict situations, as well as root causes to ascertain action steps in line with applicable policies and procedures to address them to create a sound industrial relation climate
    • Building positive relationships with management and stakeholders (Internal & External)
    • Facilitate engagement sessions as per company collective bargaining agreement
    • Monitoring and enforcement of signed agreements between Management and stakeholders
    • Participate in Policy formulation and review as required by the business

    Qualifications

    • Grade 12
    • NQF Level 6 Diploma in Human Resource Management / Employee Relations
    • Degree in Human Resource Management / Employee Relations  Advantageous

    Experience

    • Minimum of 5 years mining experience in Human Resources / Employee Relations Functions
    • CCMA experience required

    Knowledge and Skills

    • Human Resources Legislation
    • Labour Relations Act
    • Basic Conditions of Employment Act
    • Valid driver’s licence
