Minimum Requirements

• Recognised teaching qualification  
• Registered with SACE
• Knowledge and more than eight years’ experience in teaching the Music CAPs curriculum in the GET & FET phases is essential.
• More than five years’ experience teaching at the Grade 12 level is essential.
• Experience in a leadership position within a large school is essential
• Experience in the running of a Music Department would be a significant advantage

Duties and Responsibilities

• Leadership of the Music Department of this 130-year-old school, including acting as the Subject Head for FET Music and GET Creative Arts: Music
• Integrate a Music ethos and strategy holistically into the school’s activities
• Oversee and manage extra-mural music programme
• Hire, manage and supervise part-time instrument teachers
• Manage and direct the activities of the Music Administrator
• Teach Music at GET and FET level as required.
• Teach individual practical music lessons as required
• Oversee the recommendation of Music Scholarships and Music Colours awards
• Direct major musical events during the course of the year, including competitions, concerts, musicals, etc.
• May be required to serve as a member of the School’s Leadership Team
• Act as a Tutor or Co-Tutor in the school’s Vertical Tutor System as required.
