    Diesel Mechanic - Multi Green (Pty) Ltd, Villiers

    Job Description

    • To diagnose and repair mechanical faults of diesel vehicles as well as conduct their routine maintenance in alignment with predefined work objectives (as per agreed standard operating procedures). 

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 Equivalent.
    • Qualified Diesel Technician (must have passed Trade Test).
    • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Diesel Technician post Trade Test.
    • Code 8 Driving License required (Code 14 preferred).
    • The applicant should be in a good physical condition, an independent worker, self-motivated, able to work under pressure and without supervision.
    • Position requires willingness to work long hours, incl. weekends where requested.
    • Basic Auto electrical experience
    • Experience on forklifts and frontend loader will be an advantage.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Inspect, test, and listen to defective engines/parts to diagnose malfunctions.
    • Repair the fault using existing parts where possible.
    • Replace broken parts with new and reconditioned parts.
    • Retest vehicles to ensure problem has been repaired.
    • Keep accurate records of faults identified and repairs done to vehicles.
    • Maintain records of all parts used for invoicing purposes.
    • Conduct routine maintenance checks on vehicles according to the relevant standard operating procedure.
    • Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
    • Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices.
    • Identify any mechanical problems and obtain authorization to carry out the necessary repairs whilst conducting these routine checks.
    • Note wear patterns and make maintenance recommendations.
    • Keep accurate and detailed records of preventative maintenance checks and repairs completed.
    • Ensure all work is carried according to SHEQ and company standards.
    • Ensure vehicle/equipment safety procedures are followed to avoid damage to engine components.
    • Operate equipment and carry out all duties in a safe manner.
    • Maintain equipment, protective clothing and work areas in a clean, tidy and safe condition.
    • Any other duties as may be required by management.

    Skills Required

    • Knowledge of health and safety procedures (PPE).
    • Good communication skills.
    • Accuracy and attention to details.
    • Team player.
    • Able to work under pressure.
