    Data analyst - intermediate

    Job description

    • We are looking for a Senior Associate who we can contribute technically to Data and Analytics client engagements and internal projects. An important part of your role will be to actively establish, maintain and strengthen internal and external relationships. You'll anticipate and identify risks within engagements and share any issues with senior members of the team.
    • In line with EYs commitment to quality, you'll confirm that work is of high quality. As an influential member of the team, you'll help to create a positive learning culture, coach and counsel junior team members and help them to develop.

    Client responsibilities

    • Take an active role in data analytics engagements, owning assigned sections with a technical execution role around assessment, design and implementation of analytics solutions.
    • Work effectively as a Senior Associate, taking accountability for assigned sections providing support, maintaining communication and updating senior team members on progress
    • Document outputs that will serve as input to reports and schedules that will be delivered to clients and other parties
    • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with client personnel
    • Build strong internal relationships within EY Consulting and with other services across the organisation

    People responsibilities

    • Conduct performance reviews and contribute to performance feedback for staff
    • Contribute to an educational program to continually develop personal skills of staff
    • Understand and follow workplace policies and procedures
    • A willingness to take on supervision and development of junior staff

    Preferred experience:

    • To execute data analytics and analytics driven solutions covering the entire spectrum from basic analytics to advanced analytics such as predictive modelling, machine learning and artificial intelligence, both in South Africa and abroad.

    Technical skillset:

    The successful candidate will need to demonstrate technical proficiency as follows:

    Required:

    • SQL
    • Power BI
    • Data manipulation and modelling/ ETL
    • Data extraction
    • Data transformation
    • Data modelling
    • Data handling

    Advantageous:

    • Azure Fundamentals or AWS Practioner certification
    • SAS/ R (advantageous)
    • Python
    • Spotfire/ Qlikview/ Tableau
    • Machine learning
    • AI/ Artificial Intelligence
    • Real time/ near real time analytics and technologies
    • Internet of Things (IoT)
    • Structured data
    • Unstructured data
    • Big data
    • Integrating structured and unstructured data
    • Building of data lakes
    • Building of data warehouses
    • Quantitative skills – This could include statistical, econometrical, mathematical skills etc.
       

    Professional Experience:

    The successful candidate will need to demonstrate experience in delivering or taking part in some of the following projects, for a minimum of 2 years in total:

    • Descriptive/ informative analytics
    • Predictive analytics
    • Prescriptive/ decision making analytics
    • Business Intelligence (BI implementations)
    • Social media analytics
    • Risk & control analytics
    • Process analytics
    • Operational analytics
    • Financial modelling
    • Risk scoring
    • Risk modelling
       

    People Management Experience:

    • While not required, experience in mentoring and supervising junior team members will be advantageous.

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum B.Sc / B.Com Honours with focus on quantitative skills, financial engineering, mathematical modelling, data modelling, IT.
