    Clerk: Inventory

    Job Advert

    Ackermans has an exciting opportunity for an Clerk: Inventory. This position will be responsible for reconciling stock count information received from stores, transporter claims and other stock-related administration duties.

    The successful candidate will report directly to the Accountant: Inventory and will be part of a structured Finance team.

    Qualifications

    Essential:

    • National Diploma in Accounting or similar

    Preferred:

    • Relevant Tertiary Qualification (Degree) in Accounting or similar

    Knowledge, Skills and Experience

    KNOWLEDGE required:

    • Strong administration knowledge and ability
    • Good knowledge of financial administration and basic accounting principles and their application (debits, credits, journals, reconciliations)
    • Knowledge of Inventory process
    • Basic transport/ logistics

    SKILLS required:

    • Computer skills, intermediate to advanced Excel
    • Communication skills (verbal and written)
    • Interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work independently as well as in a team
    • Attention to detail
    • Above average numerical ability
    • Deadline driven
    • Analytical thinking
    • Ability to work under pressure
    • Able to deal with large volumes of work

    EXPERIENCE required:

    Essential:

    • 2 -3 years relevant finance administration experience, including strong reconciliation experience

    Preferred:

    • Retail experience

    Key Responsibilities

    Stock counts for stores

    • Draw reports for identified stores, assigned days for stock take in each store
    • Do reconciliation and communicate results to ops team
    • Stores to review exceptions
    • Shrinkage reporting
    • Investigate stock losses/ gains
    • Schedule stock counts

    Investigate Store and DC inventory queries and assist in resolving them

    Goods in transit

    • Assist stores with follow ups and investigation

    Trransporter claims

    • Receive and investigate weekly claims from transporter
    • Do recon of all the accounts at the end of the month for all accounts around claims
    • Submit claims – self-insurance or transporter
    • Prepare journals
