    Business Unit Director

    How you'll role

    As the Business Unit Director, your job is to be the conduit between the client and the agency, identifying client needs and clearly articulating them back to the agency. To do so, you'll need to research and analyse the intended audience, develop media strategies and use various technologies to determine what type of communication will have the best performances. At the same time, you will need to work hard at getting the best out of your team, while learning as much about the client's business as possible to ensure you are seen as a valuable partner.

    What you'll do

    • Build and maintain client relationships
    • Foster a good working relationship across the agency and with clients to facilitate flawless execution of plans
    • Develop and lead sound, strategic media plans, based on client marketing direction and the use of media research
    • Synthesise information accurately and efficiently to guide campaign development and execution
    • Digest details about client's products and services and identify and articulate key points to outside parties and intuitively solve problems
    • Maintain good rapport with sales representatives and vendors; push vendors to work collaboratively to deliver original solutions to satisfy client needs
    • Explore media alternatives and be naturally innovative in recommending media solutions; determine the solution, deliver the recommendation and stand behind it
    • Manage and train all team members
    • Conduct work and performance reviews, inductions and staff training
    • Be revenue conscious and set accurate revenue targets and projections
    • Create, maintain and analyse sound strategic media plans based on comprehensive research
    • Share campaign results and learnings and present this data timeously
    • Understand the media landscape and produce sound strategies and proactive proposals
    • Be proactive in searching for new business and opportunities

    What you'll need

    • 10+ years of experience in Media Lead / Media Strategist role
    • Experience in both traditional and digital media
    • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills as well as the ability to adapt these in order to communicate effectively with those around you
    • The ability to develop and maintain excellent relationships – internally, with your team and colleagues and externally, with clients, media owners, partner agencies and the industry at large
    • The ability to persuasively articulate strategy, rationale, and ideas
    • The ability to negotiate and filter relevant information
    • The ability to deal with a diverse range of personalities
    • The ability to manage people and work in a team environment
    • An analytical mind
    • To be able to multitask (work with a myriad of portfolios)
    • Advanced systems knowledge (Microsoft Office, Telmar, Chase)
    • Self-learning skills – a desire to learn more about the trends shaping consumer behaviour and a desire to find a better or more effective answer to business problems
    • Strong organisational, attention to detail, interpersonal, and project management skills
    • Be digitally connected with an insatiable curiosity
    • Operate with honesty, integrity and respect
    • Be a jack-of-all-trades
    • Financial experience (beneficial)
