    Auditor: Generalist Audit Services

    Job description

    Purpose of Job

    • To manage and execute generalist audits of the Sasol Group and act in the role of a subject matter expert for audits managed and executed.
    • Execute and/ or manage the execution of audits to be within budgeted planned hours as and when required.
    • To ensure that the quality of audits executed is in alignment with the Sasol Assurance Services Operating Manual (SASOM)
    • Manage the allocation of audit resources on assigned audit tasks as and when required.
    • Ensure timely reporting of assigned audit tasks and follow established reporting protocols.
    • Monitor the quality of audits managed and executed to ensure that they are aligned with the Sasol Assurance Services Operating Manual (SASOM).
    • To integrate with and/ or assist other SAS departments with regard to knowledge sharing on audit tasks being managed and executed and where resource constraints exist.
    • Act as liaison with clients.


    In accordance with the Sasol Assurance Services (SAS) Charter as approved by the Sasol Limited Audit Committee:

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience required

    • CA(SA) with
    • 3 to 5 years Internal Auditing experience
    • 3 to 5 years Information Technology Governance experience

    or

    • Qualified CIA auditor with
    • 5 to 7 years Internal Auditing experience
    • 5 to 7 years Information Technology Governance experience

    or

    • B Compt Honours with completed articles
    • 5 to 7 years Internal Auditing experience
    • 5 to 7 years Information Technology Governance experience

    Core Elements of Job

    • Audit task planning
      • Compiling of planning memorandum to ensure focus on high risks.
      • Compiling of audit program to ensure audit objectives are met.
      • Review/ assist with review of planning memorandum/ audit program as and when required.
    • Audit execution / reporting
      • Obtaining and documenting audit evidence supporting reported findings in the audit report.
      • Execute own audits to ensure factual and timely reports with flexibility to adapt to change.
      • Assist in the reviewing of working papers as and when requested by Senior Auditor/ Senior Manager.
      • Plan/ execute overseas audits when required.
      • Manage execution of audits as and when required.
    • Special Ad hoc Requests
      • Conduct specific ad-hoc audit requests as and when required.
      • Execute special requests by the Audit Committee as and when required.
    • Reporting
      • Periodically assist in compiling of all relevant reports to all relevant stakeholders for area of specialisation as appropriate and in accordance with the Reporting Protocol.
      • Assist in preparation of reports on a quarterly basis for the GEC and the Sasol Limited Audit Committee on significant governance issues identified and progress against annual audit plan for area of responsibility.
      • Factual, comprehensive and timely reporting to management, Governance Committees, Boards and relevant stakeholders in accordance with the Reporting Protocol.
    • Quality control
      • Ensure that quality standards for SAS and the Generalist Audit team are met with regard to own working papers.
      • Ensure that all reporting protocols are observed on own working papers.
      • Conduct peer reviews of team audit working papers.
      • Assist in conducting quarterly and ad hoc peer reviews of audit working papers.
      • Complete task assessments of all team members of audit tasks managed as and when required.
    • Specialist advice
      • On request review business processes, policy and procedures.
      • On request attend relevant forums and provide specialist advice.
      • Assist with ad hoc requests for specialist advice on best practice and group policy
    • Sasol Assurance Services Management
      • Maintain and update audit programmes.
      • Act as a change agent and assist in driving the implementation of innovative improvements to SAS processes and systems and the developed tactical plans to support the implementation of SAS strategy.
      • Stay abreast of new developments in the assurance environment and make recommendations on necessary changes.
      • Be a role model for Sasol values. Adhere to the provisions of the Sasol Code of Ethics as well as to the Guide to the Sasol's Code of Ethics.
      • Manage own delivery to ensure requirements of the Sasol Limited Audit Committee in terms of our performance measures are met.
      • Manage own effectiveness and assist in supporting team effectiveness where required.
      • Communicate and manage own requirements and assist in implementing skills improvement and team development through training and exposure.
      • Proactively engage and share knowledge with other colleagues and teams in order to drive integration between all departments within Sasol Assurance Services.
    • Stakeholder engagement
      • Issue and discuss all findings with relevant client personnel including supervisors and/ or management.
      • Discuss and obtain input on annual audit plan.
      • Share knowledge, networks and collaborate with Sasol Assurance Services colleagues on internal audit findings.
      • Attend, monitor, evaluate and contribute to discussions at relevant Business/ Function Committees/ meetings/ forums where assurance about the area of responsibility/ specialisation is being discussed.
      • Contribute to advice provided on Corporate Governance frameworks.
      • Identify and communicate any significant risks not yet identified through the risk management process.
      • Build constructive working relationships with managers, peers, clients and other service providers.
      • Communicate and behave professionally to ensure high levels of credibility, trust and respect.
