    Group Manager, IM

    Job Description

    QUALIFICATION:

    • BSc (Hons) Computer Science (Essential/Minimum)
    • Management Development Programme (Essential/Minimum )
    • Master of Business Administration (Recommended/Desirable)

    EXPERIENCE:

    • 10-12 years Broad information management aspects and especially on business engagement to ensure value from ITStrong portfolio and project management skills, solution design, service operations and financial acumen (Essential/Minimum) (Management)

    REQUIREMENTS:

    Member of Relevant Professional Body ( Essential/Minimum )

    OUTPUTS:

    BEST PRACTICE AND KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT

    • Put in place continuous improvement initiatives to improve system processes by extracting information, compiling new reports or existing standard reports on best practice systems processes to identify and meet organisational needs
    • Keep abreast of new leading practices in software developments and technologies as well as information security
    • Actively pursue preservation of information between operations and IM professionals to facilitate effective knowledge management according to organisational objectives
    • Build relationships across the Exxaro value chain by sharing business information knowledge

    BUSINESS PERFORMANCE AND OPERATIONS

    • Develop direct implementation of IM strategy in line with business strategy
    • Approve legal best practice compliance
    • Ensure sound enterprise architecture
    • Guide/evaluate use of IM standards, principles, practice for planning
    • Design implementation of IM outcomes to support business strategy
    • Provide audits reports on ICT use costs; demonstrate best value in provision of products services
    • Establish reporting on overall IM balanced scorecard
    • Ensure IM process development training of staff
    • Ensure business solution value is identified, derived and aligned to business priorities
    • Ensure risk assessments are completed and mitigation actions implemented
    • Ensure service continuity and disaster recovery plans are developed and tested
    • Facilitate value and benefit tracking of IM portfolio
    • Ensure ICT solutions are implemented to support operational processes
    • Integrate IM teams to ensure alignment and quality of service execution

    COMPLIANCE, GOVERNANCE AND ASSURANCE

    • Interpret legislative corporate governance requirements to manage non- compliance risk consequences
    • Ensure information reporting complies with proper accounting principles (capitalisation versus expensing as operating costs)
    • Assess/communicate impact of legal developments on business strategy
    • Mitigate/manage risks and ensure implementation of risk management Systems in terms of the group approved policy and methodology
    • Conduct assurance reviews on complex integrated systems in conjunction with the Combined Assurance Forum
    • Ensure risk ICT identified/minimized/managed and plan prevention measures in place
    • Disaster recovery plans defined/tested
    • Ensure implementation of robust policies, processes, controls to address the threat of cyber crime
    • Report on IT governance to the Audit committee through the IM Steering committee

    CUSTOMER AND CLIENT RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

    • Manage internal and external relations, including interface with external providers or other functions responsible to ensure that corporate and regional business needs are met
    • Develop and build strategic partnerships and development of opportunities for business value or service enhancement
    • Liaise with key customer representatives to manage and resolve escalated issues and risks

    EFFECTIVE PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

    • Foster an environment where people are motivated, seek out better ways of operating team and sub-team processes to build high performing teams
    • Motivate and inspire staff to excel at jobs and strive for excellence
    • Ensure talent management supports achievement of employment equity diversity targets
    • Cultivate high performance culture
    • Direct teams through visible transformational leadership
    • Ensure performance contracts and succession planning processes are deployed

    FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

    • Develop financial budgets for the IM department to ensure sufficient financial resources according to strategic operational requirements
    • Oversee execution of Exxaro IM capital budget portfolio
    • Monitor and control expenditure of department based on financial requirements
    • Report on departmental spending against budget to ensure accurate forecasting
