    Structured Solutions Analyst: Specialised Finance

    Description

    • Merchant West lending products extend to bespoke asset finance (across an extensive range of asset classes), fleet finance, working capital funding, property finance solutions and specialised finance.
    • Merchant West advisory products extend to investment strategies, private wealth management and treasury solutions.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide transaction support to ensure smooth operations and efficient execution of debt financing transactions.
    • Prepare external and internal presentations and reporting, external investor memorandums and credit information, data analysis, and financial analysis to support decision-making processes.
    • Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of an effective and integrated group cash and balance sheet management function.
    • Assist the team in conceptualisation, design, structuring, facilitation, and implementation of debt financing transactions by conducting market research, financial modelling, and feasibility analysis.
    • Review and prepare accurate and timely external and internal reporting, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
    • Monitor transaction and regulatory compliance by staying updated with relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
    • Manage transactions post-implementation by conducting periodic reviews, tracking performance, and addressing any operational or compliance issues that arise.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, risk management, finance, legal, and compliance, to ensure effective communication and coordination throughout the transaction lifecycle.
    • Maintain a thorough understanding of industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes related to debt financing transactions.
    • Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives to improve operational efficiency, risk management, and compliance processes within the group funding and treasury function.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external counterparts, such as investors, regulators, and service providers, to ensure smooth transaction execution and compliance.

    Qualifications

    • Bcom degree (essential)
    • CA (SA) newly qualified <2 years (essential)
    • CFA Level 3 (beneficial)

    Experience

    • Audit experience in financial institutions team (“FIST”) (beneficial)
    • Experience in corporate credit and/or structured finance (beneficial)
    • Knowledge of securitisation structures (beneficial)
    • Familiar with credit underwriting fundamentals, financial statement analysis, financial modelling, term sheets, secured and unsecured borrowing and lending agreements (beneficial)

    Responsibilities

    • Daily processing of Cashbook and reconciling
    • Invoicing
    • Monthly Debtors report
    • Creditors (processing and reconciling)
    • Monthly Vat recons
    • Payments on bank

    • Checking and uploading of bank files to run debit orders

    Accountant: Treasury Solutions

    Responsibilities

    • Record day to day transactions
    • Post journal processes
    • Invoicing and payments
    • Month end reporting (maintain trial balance and compilation of month end statements)
    • Salary preparation and reconciliation
    • Bank reconciliation
    • Tax administration – Monthly VAT reporting, PAYE reporting and Provisional Tax Calculations

    Qualifications

    • Bcom or any accounting related degree or diploma

    Experience

    • Must be proficient in MS Excel
    • Knowledge of Sage Evolution (advantageous)
    • Credit and Crime Clear
    • 3 Years’ experience in accounting and producing management statements

    Corporate Credit Analyst

    Responsibilities

    • The core responsibilities of the position are split into four stages – Deal management and preparation, deal execution and presentation, post deal implementation and lastly overall input towards credit projects, personal development as well as where needed client visits.
    • Understanding the industry dynamics and market trends relevant to the client’s business is essential, adding value to credit committee presentation and discussions.
    • Ensure that credit decisions adhere to the company’s credit policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
    • Based on the analysis, credit analysts make recommendations regarding credit limits, terms, and conditions for extending credit to corporate clients.
    • Conducting thorough due diligence on potential client is essential to assess their creditworthiness accurately. This may involve reviewing legal documents, conducting site visits, and obtaining information from third-party sources.
    • Articulating accurately the risk implications of change requests related to previously approved transactions.
    • The responsibilities outlined above provide a comprehensive overview but are not exhaustive. It will be expected to undertake additional tasks and responsibilities where and if necessary to fulfill the requirements of the role.

    Qualifications

    • Bcom degree with Finance and/or Mathematics, Accounting as a subject(s)
    • Post degree qualification could be advantageous.
    • Driver’s License (Code 08)
    • Clean Credit Record

    Experience

    • Minimum 4 years working knowledge of credit risk management, within the commercial/ corporate sector.
    • Familiar with National Credit Act
