    Lecturer: Digital And Academic Literacies (Independent Contractor)

    Job Purpose:

    Lecturer and academic delivery to ensure students are guided and supported in their learning to achieve module outcomes.

    Minimum Qualification Requirements:

    • ​At least a 3-year degree in a Humanities/Social Sciences/Law/Education/Finance/Management field, with one or more of these Majors: English, Communication, Media, Psychology, Criminology, Sociology, Law, Didactics, Management, or Economics. If the campus feels they have a suitable candidate, they may apply to CAT for review.

    Minimum Work Experience Requirements:

    • At least 2 years' experience lecturing/tutoring in a tertiary institution.
    • Experience working in a tertiary institution to be able to provide the level of academic support and guidance required by this foundational module. ​

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Preparation and lecturing as per the Module Guide
    • Teaching curriculum outcomes as per contract hours and stipulated per pre agreed timetable
    • Briefing students for assignments and providing feedback in a timeous manner
    • Presenting class marks and feedback to the Module Discipline Leader and discuss appropriate interventions for improved student success
    • Actively engaging with current trends in teaching and learning strategies within The IIE’ Vega School environment.

    Head: Academic

    The IIE's Vega School Pretoria Campus has a vacancy for a Head: Academic

    Reporting to: Campus Head

    Qualification:

    • Minimum of Postgraduate Diploma/ Bachelors Degree/ Honours Degree in Teaching Methodology or Subject Specialisation.
    • Masters Degree advantageous.

    Experience:

    • Minimum 3 years management experience with 6 years teaching or lecturing experience within a tertiary environment.
    • Must have management experience in an academic setting and an understanding of the current regulatory framework and its impact on higher education and private colleges.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    Academic Management

    • Create, manage and implement the campus academic delivery plan with Module Leaders (MDL's), Lecturers, and Information Specialists. This will be achieved through the following:
    • The achievement of greater student success (by achieving set targets) by ongoing analysis of academic results, examining evidence and reporting on and addressing areas of risk;
    • The improvement of student retention rates through the management of the quality student support interventions and strategies to improve student perseverance/resilience;
    • Measurement of the effectiveness of student support interventions on an ongoing basis;
    • The management and mentoring of the Module Leader (MDL) team to support national and campus initiatives, including development plans for this team;
    • The management of the academic development of the lecturing team with a focus on managing the progression of lecturer development, allocation of modules and lecturer workload.
    • Ensure equity of academic delivery across campuses
    • Accountable for compliance to the policies and procedures of The Independent Institute of Education.
    • Responsible for engagement with the relevant National portfolio heads regarding campus Academic performance and compliance.
    • Building and promoting an active community of best academic practice on campus.
    • Interacting with evidence and data to fully understand the status quo of the campus.
    • Handling of student disputes and complaints relating to any academic matter.
    • Handling of lecturer queries.
    • Actively engaging in action research.
    • Planning and managing improved library services to support navigators and students.
    • Co-ordinating and planning for annual lecturer and student award events.
    • Managing internal and external academic audit processes.
    • Assisting the National team with academic projects.

    Academic Staff Management

    • Recruitment of academic staff and facilitating resolution of any payment issues that may arise.
    • Ensuring that all new academic staff have been trained sufficiently in order to understand their role, processes, policies and procedures.
    • Constantly reviewing information and data to identify training needs for the full academic team and carrying out appropriate training and mentoring plans
    • Responsible for the line management of the Module Leaders (MDL's), Academic Navigators, Librarian, Academic Support Coordinator and Student Experience Navigators and Research Co-ordinators and for clear communication of roles and responsibilities of each academic team member.
    • Planning and managing academic research output for academic navigators and recording any output on RATS
    • Identification of Development plans for permanent academic team.

    Research & Scholarship

    • All designated academic employees are required to promote a culture of scholarship within their practice, discipline and campus/team and are also required to contribute towards The IIE’s Vega achieving its annual research output targets. Individual research output unit/s will be set in consultation with your line manager on an annual basis (Informed by The IIE 018 Academic Conditions of Service Policy).
    • Plan and manage academic output with all permanent academics
    • Regular academic teaching and learning workshops to promote best practice
    • Assist Senior Lecturers to develop Senior lecturer individual portfolios and report on achievement biannually

    Junior Student Advisor (Sales) - Pretoria

    Job Purpose: 

    Responsible for initiating, building and managing relationships with prospective students through every stage of the recruitment process (Lead, Appointments, Applications and Registrations) and report on individual sales activities per set targets.

    To achieve appointment, application and registration targets and implement campus sales and marketing initiatives and plans aimed at attracting students to apply for full-time and part-time undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications.

    Working Hours:
    08:00 – 17:00 Monday to Friday

    Education:

    Three year Diploma or Degree in PR/ Business/ Marketing/ Communications/Sales

    Key Performance Areas:

    Student Acquisition:

    • Achieve monthly / annual individual appointment and application targets.
    • Plan, schedule and attend visits to allocated schools and universities for expos, career fairs, presentations, Gen V workshops, graduate recruitment programmes (GRP).
    • Represent IIE-Vega at open days, expos, career fairs, presentations, Gen V workshops, graduate recruitment programmes (GRP) and other campus-based events favorably to generate interest in full-time / part-time qualifications and quality leads.
    • Initiate appropriate sales drives and promotional activities to generate leads / enquiries and to convert enquiries into applications.
    • Attending to all leads and enquiries within an hour (during normal business hours, on weekdays).
    • Continuous monitoring and assistance of all queries (website, email, telephonic, TAWK, WhatsApp) with the intent to convert into applications.
    • Maintains adherence to quality standards and guidelines to ensure the best customer service for both brands, at all times.
    • Achieve monthly / annual individual registration targets.

    Relationship Management:

    • Establish and foster productive relationships with teachers, principals and other relevant partners.
    • Build and manage relationships with current students (rollover), prospective students (new) and their parents at all relevant touchpoints during the application process to the standards agreed.
    • Attend to queries from students / parents timeously to ensure a positive service experience for prospective students.
    • Conduct appointments with prospective students to gain insights into their needs and provide feedback on the appropriate IIE-Vega qualification that suits their needs.
    • Keeps regular records (STASY, appointment forms) of interaction/ engagement with prospective students (telephone conversations / appointments / email enquiries / open days / events).
    • Receive, evaluate, process and report on applications and registrations from prospective students.
    • Provide applicants with regular feedback on their application status and implement regular sales and marketing initiatives to convert applications into registrations.

    Database Administration:

    • Capture data in respect of student leads, appointments, applications and registrations timeously and accurately into STASY.
    • Complete STASY workflow to ensure that automated communication triggers are maintained.
    • Keep updated records of interactions/ engagement with prospective students (telephone conversations / appointments / email enquiries / open days / events).
    • Keep accurate record of the conversions from application to registration using the registration report and STASY.

    Sales Administration:

    • Creation of student file containing the student’s relevant application documents (Student ID, latest results, application form, POP).
    • Capturing and reporting of all appointments into STASY and to MS Teams folder.
    • Processing of applications on STASY ensuring accurate capturing of all student information.
    • Request application confirmation letters.
    • Prepare sales figures and statistics as required
    • Follow up on payments for applications, pre-registrations, and registrations.
    • Request study visa letters / conditional registration letters where applicable timeously.
    • Follow the appropriate admission processes. Upload admission queries to STASY / SATS where required.
