    Lecturer: Department of Architecture - (1073)

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Teach the following at undergraduate or postgraduate level: Construction and Detail Design, together with a lecture-based module/s such as Professional Practice, Computer Aided Design, Computer Rendering and/or History/Theory of Architecture.
    • Co-ordinate Professional Practise related modules. 
    • Conduct Research.

    Inherent Job Requirements:

    • M. Arch (professional) degree on NQF Level 9 (contract position until registered for a PhD on NQF Level 10 in Architecture).

    Assistant Director: Psychological Services (post level 7) - (1072)

    Duties and responsibilities:

    Strategic Leadership and Management

    • Assist the Director: SCD in managing and monitoring administrative tasks and day-to-day professional processes at departmental and institutional levels.
    • Enhance the UFS multi-campus management strategy.
    • Responsible for policy development, review, and implementation.
    • Participate in the strategic planning processes of the Division of Student Affairs.
    • Responsible for Institutional collaborations and consultations and institutional and inter-departmental committees’ participation.
    • Act according to the ethical guidelines set out by the HPCSA.
    • Manage the UFS SADAG Careline.
    • Develop training workshops for departmental personnel and interns.
    • Liaise with university departments, management, and other healthcare professionals.
    • Assist the Director: SCD with team building and maintenance of internal personnel wellness.

    Psychological Interventions 

    • Provide Individual/Group Counselling.

    Inherent requirements:

    • A master’s degree or relevant qualification on NQF Level 9 in Counselling Psychology.
    • A minimum of four (4) years of relevant working experience relating to the duties and responsibilities.
    • Registration as a Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) for at least five years (attach proof).
    • Proven experience providing psychotherapeutic services to young adults, including trauma-based therapeutic service delivery. 
    • Proven experience in crisis management.
    • Proven experience in providing supervision to Counselling Psychology Interns.
    • Proven experience in developing workshops or programmes for young adults.

    Vice-Dean: Learning, Teaching, Innovation and Digitalisation - (1071)

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Take co-responsibility with the Dean to ensure the achievement of the mission of all faculty-based programmes and initiatives.
    • Lead the Teaching and Learning (T&L) portfolio of the faculty by guiding T&L policies, teaching approaches, digitalisation and innovation in the field to ensure the smooth running of all T&L activities.
    • Provide guidance towards strategic and visionary T&L matters such as course and curriculum development, teaching innovation and hybrid teaching methodologies.
    • Ensure that the General Rules and Regulations of the UFS as well as EMS rules related to the academic programmes are adhered to, updated where needed and communicated to all staff in EMS.
    • Liaise with top management through the Dean, especially the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Academic, CTL, SAS, and DIRAP.
    • Continuously look for new T&L needs from the related market, students and government.

    • Identify and develop current and future research flagships of the faculty.

    • Proven record of research grant applications, management, and experience in third-stream income generation. 
    • Superior knowledge of research methodology, postgraduate student support, and management of postgraduate programmes and processes
    • Proven international recognition for specialist expertise and research leadership in a particular area of academic scholarship (e.g., regularly serves as a reviewer for international/ISI/IBSS journals).
    • Must be appointable as an Associate or full Professor at the University of the Free State.

    Director: International Affairs - (1069)

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Promote and facilitate strategic international partnerships.
    • Provide specialised services to international staff and students of the UFS and ensure their compliance with relevant legislation.
    • Provide international scholarships and opportunities for UFS students.
    • In consultation with the Directorate for Research Development, provide and facilitate international funding opportunities for UFS staff.

    Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Soil Science - (1068)

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Actively contribute to and further advance the teaching and research agenda of our soil science section, which plays a central role in the agricultural cluster at the UFS.
    • Lecture / teach undergraduate modules in the field of soil science and the supervision of research activities conducted by MSc and PhD students.

    Senior Lecturer

    • PhD on NQF Level 10 in Soil Science or a closely related field.

    • Proven national recognition for specialist expertise and research in a specific area of scholarship.
    • An NRF rating or demonstrated potential for obtaining an NRF rating.
    • Proven experience in supervision of graduated master’s-degree students.
    • A proven research record of relevant publications in national and international accredited journals.
    • Proven experience of service as an active member of a national or international scholarly society or committee or agency concerned with research at higher-education levels.

    Recommendations:

    • Expertise in Soil Science, underpinned by a credible track record of scientific publications in internationally recognised journals. 
    • Expertise in the field of soil chemistry and soil fertility is an advantage.
    • Broad set of research skills (setting up experiments, data collection and analysis, dissemination of research results, etc), and a flexible mindset to take advantage of the diverse opportunities for soil science research arising.
