    Officer (post level 10/11) - (1033)

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Facilitate staff training on ICT, software, and simulation technology. 
    • Facilitate relevant short courses.
    • Facilitate simulation sessions (VR and HPS).
    • Collaborate with other departments within the University of the Free State. 
    • Ensure simulation, ICT and related equipment are operational and up to date. 
    • Manage and maintain the ICT equipment and budget of the School of Nursing. 
    • Manage the Website of the School of Nursing.
    • Coordinate the replacement process of the laptops and computers for the School of Nursing staff.
    • Research and implement relevant, innovative Teaching and Learning (T&L) technology as required.
    • Collaborate with relevant external stakeholders.

    Inherent Job Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree or an Advanced Diploma/BTech degree/Postgraduate Certificate on NQF level 7 or a 3-year National Diploma on NQF level 6 in Computer Sciences and Informatics/Information systems/ICT-related field.
    • Minimum of two (2) years' relevant working experience related to the duties and responsibilities.

    Senior Officer (post level 9) - (1032)

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Develop and coordinate medical CPD programmes in the School of Clinical Medicine (SOCM) for third stream income generation.
    • Apply for Continued Professional Development (CPD) accreditation on behalf of the SOCM.
    • Develop and coordinate new online medical learning material for the SOCM that can be used to generate third stream income (e.g., CPD, short learning programmes, courses etc.).
    • Monitor master’s degrees and produce monthly reports.
    • Monitor compliance with rules as laid out by the relevant UFS and Faculty of Health Sciences structures.
    • Attend relevant meetings related to KPl's
    • Design medical instructional videos, graphics, patient information documents, infographics, academic posters and presentations.
    • Develop and manage the UFS extended training platform.
    • Digitise and innovate undergraduate, postgraduate and informal medical curricula/material.
    • Present or coordinate workshops on medical data capture and management.
    • Undertake training duties in the: design of online learning material, and online facilitation.
    • Develop online data capture forms.
    • Enhance interinstitutional medical training utilising IT and innovation (e.g., develop platforms where the UFS can engage and contribute to teaching and learning with other institutions).
    • Assist with IT related matters on the abovementioned platforms.
    • Convert and digitise the curriculum both undergraduate and postgraduate.
    • Develop monitoring tools.
    • Assist and work on Articulate 360.
    • Assist student and staff on Blackboard.
    • Assist with digitization of SLP (Short Learning Programmes).
    • Medical CPD activities in the SOCM - including the development of CPD programs on IT platforms with input from Clinicians to generate third stream income (responsible for digitization and monitoring of programmes).
    • Co-ordinate and organise courses.
    • Registration and liaison for CPD, congresses, academic meetings, courses and short learning programmes in the SOCM.
    • Work with subject matter experts to identify areas where international learning and research collaborations can be developed and fostered (e.g., HIV, patient blood management, vascular surgery, cancer).
    • Perform independent medical education research related to scope of work.
    • Participate in medical research and education.
    • Work with the office of internationalisation to arrange research and training exchange programmes for UFS staff and students to improve capacity.
    • Assist staff and students with REDCap.

    Inherent Job Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree or an advanced diploma/Btech degree/postgraduate certificate on NQF Level 7 in a health-related field.
    • Any postgraduate qualification in education including but not limited to a PGCE (on NQF 7 level or higher) OR a minimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience in a health education field.

    Recommendations:

    • Master's degree / relevant qualification on NQF Level 9 in Higher Education/ Health Education.
    • Experience in developing educational material on UFS learning Management systems i.e., Blackboard, RICE and Articulate Suite 360.
    • Experience in the administration and management of the learning management system used at the UFS (Blackboard).
    • Experience in developing and building online data capture forms e.g., REDCap.
    • Knowledge of higher education procedures, policies and practices.
    • Experience in the Tertiary Education environment.
    • Experience in the independent development of online medical education material.
    • Experience in delivering oral and/or poster presentations.

    Lecturer: Teaching Practice and Teacher Education (Contract appointment: Three (3) years) - (1026)

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Provide formal teaching for undergraduate as well as postgraduate programme in the department. 
    • Ensure active involvement in research activities of the faculty. 
    • Participate in the Work Integrated Learning programme of the faculty (Teaching Practice). 
    • Active involvement in curriculum development relating to Education Foundations modules. 
    • Supervise and provide consultation sessions for undergraduate and postgraduate students. 
    • Work in a team with colleagues within the faculty. 
    • Contribute to leadership and administrative tasks related to the faculty. 

    Inherent Job requirements:

    • A relevant Doctoral degree In Education on NQF Level 10 with a focus on Curriculum, Teaching Practice and/ or Teacher Education.
    • Or
    • A relevant Master’s degree in Education on NQF Level 9 with a focus on Curriculum, Teaching Practice and/ or Teacher Education and registered for a Doctoral degree in Education with a focus on Curriculum, Teaching Practice and/ or Teacher Education (Attach official proof of registration towards a PhD).
    • Candidates should submit an abstract of their thesis or dissertation to indicate relevance to Curriculum, Teaching Practice and /or Teacher Education.
    • A formal teaching qualification (e.g., Diploma in Education or Bachelor of Education degree or equivalent.
    • A minimum of five (5) year`s relevant teaching experience in a school context or a minimum of two (2) year`s relevant teaching experience in a higher education environment.
    • Proven experience in the delivery of poster or oral presentation at academic conferences or equivalent.
    • Provide evidence of manuscript(s) produced that have the potential to be converted or submitted for publication, ideally in an accredited journal. 

    Recommendations:

    • A relevant Doctoral degree in Education on NQF Level 10 with a focus on Curriculum, Teaching Practice and/ or Teacher Education.
    • A proven research record of relevant publications in national or international accredited journals,
    • Experience in postgraduate supervision.
