    Strategist (Mid level)

    Job Description

    This exciting role is for a Mid Integrated Strategist in our Johannesburg or Cape Town office. You will play a key role in developing integrated and digital communication strategies for clients in response to their expressed marketing challenges.     You will lead day-to-day strategic thinking, requirements and discussions surrounding your brands internally, with partner agencies, and with clients. You will be responsible for setting and directing the measurement of key performance indicators and ensuring that creative, channel and platform execution is aligned to the overall approved strategy. You will assist with mentoring junior team members, assisting the head of department to drive proactive work together with the creative teams, and be proactive in establishing sound relationships with clients.

    What you will be doing

    • Be a brand custodian on the agency’s client brands
    • Articulate and interrogate client needs based on the brand and business strategy
    • Gather research from various sources of information (desktop research, data platforms, social listening tools, web analytics tools, brand studies, case studies, audience analysis, people watching, living life etc.)
    • Use research to develop refreshing and meaningful insights to shift behaviours in consumers, category and culture
    • Develop strategically sound and innovative ways for ideas, experiences and campaigns to work within the client’s business context and brief requirements
    • Understand ATL, BTL and digital channels to enable end-to-end solutions for clients
    • Direct the strategy brief and collaborate constructively with internal creative, media, social and client service teams, as well as partner agencies and client teams
    • Keep abreast of current trends and industry best practice to inspire the wider agency and clients with added value
    • Support reporting efforts with insights and recommendations and lead brand and competitor reviews
    • Constantly raise the standard of strategic output across all client accounts
    • Support, occasionally lead and present the outcome of strategic work for new business pitches
    • Form direct relationships with key clients
    • Proactively monitor your clients’ brands and industries so that you are able to share with client and the team, positioning the agency as a thought leader and opening organic growth opportunities

    Qualifications

    Qualifications / Experience / Skills

    • A tertiary qualification is Marketing / Brand Communication
    • At least 6 years’ experience as TTL Strategist
    • TTL & Digital experience (essential)
    • Experience in developing, managing and presenting solutions within a creative environment
    • Excellent presentation skills
    • Strong time management and organizational skills
    • Strong multitasking skills (able to work on multiple briefs at any given time)
    • Confidently proactive and drives projects to completion
    • Good attention to detail and able to simplify complex information and concepts
    • Ability to manage strategy projects, a high performance environment, and navigate a fast-paced account effectively
    • Collaborative, diligent and able to foster a respectful relationship with stakeholders of varying levels across the agency, the Groupe, agency partners and client teams

    Multimedia Designer (Arabic)

    Role overview:

    We are looking for multimedia designers who act as the creative minds behind advertisements, informational videos, and many other types of content you come across online or while watching television. 

    They combine text, audio, animation, photography, and video to create informational and impactful content. We are looking to talents to create innovative marketing campaigns designed to entice the digital native.

    Create Project Mock-Ups Based on Project ScopeThe project mock-up is the multimedia designer’s blueprint. Designing it usually involves brainstorming sessions with other multimedia designers to decide upon the creative direction of a given project.

    Use Computer Programs to Create Animation, Audio, and Visual Effects Multimedia designers spend most of their time using the tools found in the Adobe Creative Suite. 

    Perform Edits Based on Feedback from Stakeholders. In the creative process, the first version of something often varies significantly from the final version.

    Conduct Research to Create Accurate Animations. When multimedia designers are responsible for animating a person or animal, they conduct several hours of meticulous research to make body movements and facial expressions as accurate as possible.

    Responsibilities

    • Working with Senior Designers and Design leads to ensure projects run smoothly
    • Delivering quality designs throughout all phases of a project
    • Collaborating with UX designers
    • Have an understanding of corporate identification and their guidelines in order to implement accurately
    • Full control of typography and capacity of creating personalized typography in English and Arabic. Needs to be fluent in Arabic ( be able to read and understand)
    • Excel in graphic visual concepts
    • Team up and follow up with production department until approval of final product on all related print work
    • Ability to work constructively with assigned teams
    • Proven capacity to conceptualize
    • Be a radar in capturing the latest trends in graphic design
    • Nurture their sense of initiative by proposing creative solutions that go beyond given brief

    Qualifications

    • Demonstrate the ability to create graphics, animations, and special effects, as well as editing photos, audio, and video using Adobe Creative Suite
    • Collaborating with other creatives to brainstorm creative concepts
    • Using active listening skills and constructive criticism to fine-tune their work
    • Prioritizing tasks based on deadline proximity

    Senior ATL Media Strategist

    Job Description

    • Manage and produce quality work in line with:   Agency processes & Global tools and processes.
    • Produce clear, innovative strategies at a senior level.
    • Deliver solid implementation planning briefs.  
    • Assist with media negotiations if necessary.
    • Ensure flow plans accurately reflect the strategy.
    • Ensure teams (Offline and Online) are consolidating flow plans into one flow plan.
    • Work collaboratively with partner agencies. 
    • Manage client relationships at all levels in the business.
    • Ensure seamless work with digital strategists on the business.
    • Develop other strategists in the team or Groupe.
    • Work on New Business Pitches as and when required
    • Manage general work output quality as part of the strategic process
    • Manage client budgets and oversee implementation accordingly

    Hard KPI scores:

    • Effective representation of Starcom Media:  Keep abreast of international and local trends, across all agency disciplines and practices. 
    • Bi-annual thought-leadership/opinion piece either written or delivered in a presentation.
    • New Business:  Assist with new business pitches.  (Experience in pitching). 
    • Awards:  Enter two awards annually, that warrant winning. 
    • Set and track spend objectives for ETV, SABC, Media 24, OOH and other.
    • Report in regularly to the BUD

    Qualifications

    • ATL Strategist with a minimum of 10 years media experience, with a thorough understanding of ATL media (fully versed and able to present a strategy and flow-plan for ATL media).
    • Thorough understanding of all planning and buying processes. 
    • Thorough understanding and experience of Media Agency processes and tools
    • Experience working closely with support and management teams
    • Building strong relationships and driving credibility with clients as well as internal/external partners
