    Operational Readiness Senior Engineer

    Job Description
    Introduction

    This position will be based at the Head Office in Woodmead.

    Description

    This position is responsible to ensure the Project is handed over to Operations at the required standards for safety and operability and is responsible for forward planning and implementation of all Operational Readiness activities, systems, procedures and personnel on boarding to ensure smooth project start up.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Engaging with clients at appropriate levels (i.e. End User Client as well as Client Project Management) to scope and understand their OR needs and requirements at current and future state of the Project
    • Engaging with clients and or EPCM to identify risks and opportunities through a formal Gap Analysis review process
    • Review and assimilate information to provide the Client with a structured overview of key focus areas
    • Development of suitable OR Plan, Budget and implementation processes
    • Project Management: Facilitate Clients, Project and Operations teams to manage and implement OR activities as identified through the OR Plan
    • Actively manage, coordinate and collaborate with Minopex supporting teams/services enabling efficient project delivery
    • Actively participate in building and maintaining relationships across the Advisory pipeline by sharing business information and knowledge
    • Actively participate in development of Advisory products and solutions
    • Actively manage Client and project stakeholder engagements (Kick Off Meetings, Review and Planning sessions, Close-Out Meetings etc)
    • Actively participate and contribute to Project, Risk and Design Reviews
    • Actively participate and contribute to HAZOP, Operability and Maintainability Studies

    Qualification Requirements:

    • Tertiary qualification (degree) in Metallurgical/ Chemical/ Mechanical/Mining Engineering
    • Post Graduate qualification in Project and Business Management will be advantageous

    Experience and Skills Requirements:

    • 10 year minimum experience with 5 years’ experience in a similar role, up to managerial level in an operations / production facility with cross functional responsibility into areas such as maintenance, supply chain and logistics and / or engineering
    • Experience working in a project environment and exposure to typical project phases from concept definition through to detailed design, execution and construction
    • Experience in Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning and Ramp-up planning and execution will be advantageous
    • Experience in implementing and defining Processes and Systems
    • Experience in Business Development through contributing to bids, proposals, and commercial documents (estimates etc.)
    • Ability to analyse, assimilate and integrate complex issues and information into project plans while maintaining a holistic view to support key decisions
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross functional and multi organizational team
    • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally and work away from home as per project requirements
    • Excellent safety awareness and experience working to industry standards
    • Experience in following a Risk Based approach in the development or implementation of Processes, Procedures etc.
    • Ability to lead and influence HSE compliance
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Team leadership skills and willingness to effectively collaborate with others

    Principal Engineer: Advisory - Operational Readiness (OR)

    Job Description

    Introduction

    This position will be based at the Head Office in Woodmead.
    Description
    This position will report directly to the VP Advisory: OR and will be responsible to lead, coordinate and manage all Operational Readiness (OR) activities, projects, teams, and sub-contractors as assigned or delegated as part of the OR team. The position will also be responsible to ensure requisite product development, improvement and team improvement initiatives to be initiated and maintained.

    Duties and Responsibilities:
    Lead the development, commercialisation and execution of Operational Readiness by:

    • Engaging with clients at appropriate levels to scope and understand their OR needs
    • Engaging with clients to identify risks and opportunities through HAZOPS, Operability and Maintainability, Risk and other review processes
    • Development of suitable OR Plans, Budgets and implementation processes
    • Project Management: Facilitate Clients, Project and Operations teams to manage and implement OR activities as identified through the OR Plan
    • Actively manage, coordinate and collaborate with Minopex supporting teams/ services enabling efficient project delivery
    • Actively participate in building and maintaining relationships across the Advisory pipeline by sharing business information and knowledge
    • Actively participate in development and implementation of Advisory products and solutions
    • Assisting in the development and implementation of a commercially sound go-to market strategy for the Operational Readiness product   

    Management, Leadership and Coaching:

    • Clearly define roles, objectives, performance standards and expectations of all team members with progress monitoring and feedback

    • Improve the skills and effectiveness of team members through challenging assignments and development through training

    • Manage Advisory projects and project teams, leveraging expert resources from the rest of the Advisory group or the external market

    Financial:

    • Ensuring and assisting the OR team to achieve their Financial KPI’s at Project level
    • Ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of projects, while providing quality assurance to ensure work is delivered to the highest possible standard and approved budgeted expenditure.

    Qualification Requirements:

    • Bachelor of Science Engineering Degree (Metallurgy/ Chemical/ Mechanical/ Electrical/ Mining Engineering).
    • Post Graduate qualification in Project and Business Management will be advantageous

    Experience and Skills Requirements:

    • Minimum 15 years’ experience with at least 10 years operations experience in a management role, in an operations facility with cross functional responsibility into areas such as Health and Safety, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Human Resources and Training Management etc.
    • Experience in consulting or service delivery in the mining environment will be advantageous
    • Experience working in a project environment and exposure to typical project phases from concept definition through to detailed design, execution and construction
    • Experience in Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning and Ramp-up planning and execution will be advantageous
    • Experience in implementing and defining Processes and Systems

    The purpose of this role is to deal with the estimation, prevention and management of high levels of "lifetime" engineering uncertainty and risk failure that could adversely affect plant or business operations. The broad primary role includes loss elimination, risk management and life cycle asset management
    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Working with the Engineering team to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations
    • Responsible for adhering to the life cycle asset management (LCAM) process throughout the entire life cycle of new assets
    • Optimizing plant asset OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
    • Conduct and prepare Pareto Analyses of equipment and plant downtimes
    • Advise on the installation specifications along with commissioning plans
    • Developing acceptance tests and inspection criteria
    • Participating in the final inspection of new installations
    • Define, design, develop, monitor and refine an asset maintenance plan with the primary focus on proactive preventive maintenance
    • Effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems
    • Providing input to a risk management plan that will anticipate reliability related and non-reliability-related risks that could adversely impact plant operations
    • Developing engineering solutions for repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations. This includes capacity, quality, cost or regulatory compliance issues
    • Develop, implement and monitor Condition Based Maintenance Programs
    • Ensure the Engineering SharePoint libraries are managed for communicating standards, policies, notes and equipment manuals
    • Share findings and opportunities from maintenance assessments and benchmarking exercises

    Qualification Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Maintenance Engineering
    • ECSA Registration
    • Post Graduate qualification in Asset Management
    • Qualification in Project Management would be beneficial

    Experience and Skills Requirements:

    • 10 years’ experience as a Mechanical or Maintenance Engineer in the mining industry with 3 years’ experience in asset management
    • In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering, asset integrity and reliability
    • Good understanding of maintenance work management processes
    • Sound working knowledge of the different types of mining assets
    • Knowledge of relevant Safety and Mining legislation
    • Sound knowledge of applicable mining policies and procedures
    • Understanding of Engineering best practices and new technologies related to Engineering principles and processes
    • Advanced computer skills, with emphasis on condition monitoring software
    • Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and the tools associated with failure detection
    • Multi-tasking approach
    • Good communication skills
