    Job Description

    MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

    • To deliver safe, basic nursing care according to Scope of Practice

    KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

    • Deliver basic nursing care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
    • Identify, prevent and report risks to ensure patient safety
    • Contribute to a positive patient experience by assisting in the creation of a conducive environment
    • Provide accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions
    • Participate in creating a learning environment that builds staff competence
    • Ensure that all utilised stock and equipment are accurately charged

    Administrator: Reception

    Job Description

    MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

    • To assist patients in all aspects of admissions and discharges in a professional manner; preventing operational and financial risks to the organisation and exceeding client expectations.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

    • Ensure admissions (including pre-admissions / bookings) are captured and processed as per procedure
    • Identify and prevent financial risks by adhering to policies and procedures
    • Ensure an effective discharge process as per the Patient Administration Manual
    • Maintain patient confidentiality

    • Debtpack Enquiry application (Check outstanding amounts if a patient is flagged as Blacklisted.)
    • Admission; Bed functions; Preparation for next day and discharge processes
    • Anatomy (including terminology)
    • Hospitals switchboard systems
    • Patient Administration policies and procedures (e.g. Patient Confidentiality; Cash Handling; Blacklisted patients; Bed Overrides; etc.)
    • Patient admin programmes on the AS400 system
    • Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
    • ICD and CPT codes
    • Medical Aid Schemes and the Private healthcare environment
    • Workmans Compensation Act (WCA) processes; procedures and policies
    • Emergency / Major Incident Protocol (e.g.. Fire; floods; robbery)
    • Identifying possible financial risks (e.g. blacklisted patients; handling of patient valuables; etc.)

    Navigator: Care Expert

    Job Description

    MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

    To support a comprehensive, professional and integrated care expert service to patients in collaboration with the internal and external healthcare teams.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

    • Drive patient clinical efficiency in collaboration with the Clinical and nursing team prior to admission, during hospitalisation and post discharge
    • Support an integrated healthcare service by liaising and coordinating services with clinician offices and external healthcare providers
    • Fulfil a patient liaison role throughout the delivery of the Care Expert product
    • Utilise data analytics and reporting to monitor patient outcomes, operational efficiency and clinical governance
    • Drive a culture of improvement, quality and cost efficiency
    • Ensure effective communication and empowerment around value based care within the units

    Required Education

    Degree / Diploma in General Nursing

    or

    B-degree in ancillary services

    Required Experience

    5 years’ experience in a senior nursing role (e.g. Shift Leader, SPN), within a private acute healthcare setting

    or

    Hospital-based ancillary service provider (e.g. Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, etc.)

    Required Job Skills And Knowledge

    • Pharmacology, including Clinical pharmacy and antimicrobial stewardships
    • Clinical information capturing and data analytics
    • Cost per event management
    • Nursing care within an acute-care setting
    • Evidence-based practice and guidelines
    • Computer literacy (MS Office)
    • Risk identification and supporting protocols, e.g. IPC
    • Clinical pathways

    Telephonist

    Job Description

    MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

    • To manage and coordinate all telephonic communication and systems within the hospital in a professional manner to ensure efficient and effective communication on behalf of Mediclinic

    KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

    • Operate the hospital Telephone system daily as per policy and procedure
    • Attend to all calls timeously in a professional manner ensuring that client expectations are exceeded
    • Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained as per policy and procedure
    • Check the Hospital alarm system daily and notify the relevant department in case of an emergency as per the Alarm Emergency Manual
    • Follow the Hospital Emergency Preparedness Process in the event of an emergency as per Disaster and Emergency Plan

    Required Education
