    Assistant Manager (Non-Assurance) - QRM - National, based in South Africa

    Job Description

    An Assistant Manager position has become available within Mazars in South Africa.

    The purpose of the role is to become a part of the quality control and risk management function of the Mazars Quality and Risk Management department within South Africa and the region, with specific focus on the Non-Assurance service lines, as well as assist with the implementation of ISQM 1 for the firm. This role will offer the opportunity to join Mazars with a focus on quality control and technical excellence.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Participate in the internal monitoring process for the non-assurance service lines of the firm in terms of ISQM 1
    • Research and identification changes in legislation and standards impacting the firm and the profession
    • Development of risk management policies and tools within Mazars Non-assurance service lines
    • Draft responses to technical consultations related to Mazars Code of Conduct of Objectivity and Independence, Mazars internal polices and other legislation
    • Develop and present training related to quality and risk management matters in the non-assurance environment
    • Assist and liaise with non-assurance service line leaders with the development of policies and process documents specific to their service line
    • Perform projects related to quality and risk management within the firm on a national basis and for a number of other African offices

    Minimum Requirements

    • Recently qualified CA(SA) or CTA with close to completion of articles
    • Exceptional knowledge of inter alia,
    • International Standards in Auditing (with specific focus on ISQM 1)
    • Companies Act

    IESBA Code of Ethics

    • International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
    • Knowledge and/or experience in any one or more of the following would be considered an advantage:
    • Taxation,
    • Corporate Finance,
    • Accounting and Outsourced Services, or

    Internal Audit

    • Ability to work in stressful conditions and under tight deadlines
    • Ability to effectively manage decentralized projects
    • Attention to detail and the ability to critically evaluate the application of legislation and standards

    Skills in:

    Tax Compliance Officer (Corporate Tax)

    Job Description

    Mazars in Century City, Cape Town, a leading international Audit, Tax and Advisory services firm is hiring.

    We are seeking a well organised, deadline-driven Compliance Officer to join our Corporate Tax division. The successful incumbent will be responsible for completing income tax and related returns and deal with associated correspondence.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Gather and collate tax related information from the audit and accounting department & clients in order to complete the following corporate returns: ITR14 IT14SD IRP6, 1st, 2nd and 3rd DTR01 and DTR02 WT002 returns and reconciliations
    • Prepare the ITR14, IT14SD returns and supporting documentation and IRP6 returns
    • Prepare corporate tax computations and review computations prepared for tax compliance
    • Reconciliation of assessments (include objections and appeals)
    • Attend to all related Queries / Objections and Appeals, SARS queries, SARS objections and appeals(N00, NOA, ADR1)
    • Apply for tax clearance certificates (Good standing and Tender) via SARS e-filing
    • Complete DWT returns (DTR01 & DTR02) as well as WT002 monthly , bi annual and annual returns
    • Ensure quality control of the corporate returns by preparing a completed Corporate Check List when preparing returns for review
    • Achieve the yearly KPI’s set out in the following areas: Productive hours Tax returns submitted / outstanding Fees billed WIP management Manage individual productivity by achieving the agreed productive hours

    Minimum Requirements

    • At least 1-3 years relevant tax compliance experience with specific emphasis on Corporate/Companies’ tax compliance
    • Grade 12 Tax or other relevant BCom qualification with Accounting 3 and Tax
    • Workable knowledge of key elements of the Income Tax Act e.g. Capital Gains Tax, General Allowances and Special Allowances, etc. SARS e-filing experience
    • Able to gather information, analyse problems and write reports
    • Able to remain efficient when under pressure
    • Deadline-orientated with minimum supervision required
    • Able to plan, prioritise and organise workload and numerous client portfolios
    • Solution-orientated and able to overcome setbacks
    • Attention to detail is essential

    Senior Audit Manager

    Job Description

    An opportunity has become available in the Audit Division of Mazars, an international professional services firm, based in George. The purpose of the role will be to perform audit related duties, manage the audit team, provide direction, supervision and review for each audit assignment. Furthermore, to be responsible to ensure overall audit quality standards are met for all engagements. Supporting business development and building client relationships will also be key aspects of the role.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Manage resourcing and plotting of staff members on audit engagements
    • Work allocations as required by individual audit assignments
    • Audit assignment budget planning and management
    • Monitoring and evaluation of performance in relation to budget
    • Conduct full audit file reviews and related reports to ensure the relevant files are in compliance with the requirements set out by Mazars Audit Methodology, ISA’s and relevant accounting framework
    • Produce client reports (AFS, Minutes, Certificates, Management letters etc)
    • Propose and finalise audit opinions
    • Performance management of staff members including, continuously providing feedback to staff
    • Provide technical assistance to staff members (where required)
    • Propose billings and manage WIP
    • Approve time-sheets, leave requests, etc
    • Maintain and build excellent client relationships
    • Participate in business development efforts including targeting, lead generation, proposals etc.
    • Training, coaching and mentoring of audit staff

    Minimum Requirements

    • Qualified CA (SA)
    • Minimum 5 - 7 years’ post articles experience
