    Senior IT Manager

    Job Advert Summary

    The Senior IT Manager sets and leads the technology strategy for HGR and is responsible for all aspects of the Business Units information technology and systems, as well as how these systems support and integrate with HGR’ partners, supplier and customer networks and plays a critical role in both influencing and informing the Business Unit’s strategic direction. Strategically focusing on digital transformation and data and analytics for HGR as a key differentiator for the future.

    Key Responsibilities

    • To lead and manage a team of software developers, supporting them in building industryleading products using robust architectural practices and innovative software solutions that are fit for purpose. (Need to assist with coding and lead the team where necessary with this)
    • Driving the adoption of agile principals throughout development teams.
    • A good understanding of system architecture and the ability to design a tobe state
    • Lead a team that will deliver and meet HGR goals and objective aligned to its strategy. To ensure the development function is efficient by managing insourcing vs outsourcing capacity with cost and delivery requirements.
    • Provide the strategic and operational framework for the design, development and delivery of BU information and technology systems
    • Set objectives and strategies for the IT department
    • Select and implement suitable technology to streamline all internal operations and help optimize their strategic benefits
    • Design and customize technological systems and platforms to improve customer experience
    • Plan the implementation of new systems and provide guidance to IT professionals and other staff within the organization
    • Approve purchases of technological equipment and software and establish partnerships with IT providers
    • Oversee the technological infrastructure (networks and computer systems) in the organization to ensure optimal performance
    • Direct and organize ITrelated projects
    • Monitor changes or advancements in technology to discover ways the company can gain competitive advantage
    • Analyze the costs, value and risks of information technology to advise management and suggest actions
    • Building and visualizing data models for insights and utilisation across HGR
    • Creating the data management processes to allow efficient and effective data access for key stakeholder groups
    • Developing and maintaining actual data warehouse and/or data mart solutions for HGR
    • Designing, driving and implementing respective data governance processes across HGR
    • Developing and maintaining workflow and document /record management system
    • Cocreate the strategy and roadmap for digital transformation of the HGR business processes and systems to enable customer ecosystems
    • Working with Business Enablement Manager to ensure solutions are delivered in the most effective way, meeting requirements and minimizing rework.

    Required Knowledge and Experience

    Experience

    • 7+ years managing a development team
    • Background in designing / developing IT systems and planning IT implementation
    • Excellent knowledge of IT systems and infrastructure
    • Previous digital transformation and data and analytics management experience

    Critical Competency and Skill Requirements:

    • Understanding of Azure DevOps, Active Directory, IIS, Kerberos Security Architecture, Power Shell, STSADM and Central Admin functionality, SharePoint Web Access, SharePoint Disk Usage, SharePoint System Monitoring, SharePoint backups/restores
    • Detailed knowledge of SharePoint Farm Level setup and configuration.
    • Knowledge of Search Configuration, business connectivity services, business data catalogue
    • ASP.NET, C#, SQL Server 2008/2012/2017/2019, SQL Server reporting services, SharePoint 2010 development, JavaScript, .NET Framework 3.5/4.0, ADO.NET 3.5/4.0, UML, IIS, LINQ, Windows development, SilverLight, WPF, Windows Communication Foundation, Visual Studio, MS TFS, Release management
    • Understanding / experience in RPA / Machine Learning
    • A good understanding of enterprise architecture
    • Understanding of Microsoft Cloud Services
    • Business thinking, problem structuring and problemsolving ability
    • Strategic thinking – continuous improvement, strategy translation
    • Strong people management (leadership) skills in a multidisciplinary environment
    • Solid understanding of data analysis, budgeting and business operations
    • Educational Requirements
    • University graduate (B.Sc. Computer Science or M.Sc. preferable) with previous experience as IT Manager in financial services
    • ITIL v3 Foundation Certification an advantage
    • TOGAF Certification an advantage

    Short-Term Head of Actuarial Function Support

    Job Advert Summary

    • An exciting opportunity has become available to support the Head of the Actuarial Function for The Hollard Insurance Company and Hollard Specialist Insurance. The Actuarial Functions form part of the Group Risk Management Team and is situated in Johannesburg at the Parktown campus.
    • As the HAF support you will be involved in all the HAF reviews and functions as outlined in GOI 3 – Risk Management and Internal Controls. The Actuarial Function is also involved in regulatory reporting, mergers and acquisitions, as well as license variation applications to the Prudential Authority.
    • There are engagement opportunities with business unit actuarial and finance functions, as well as business unit Executives, the Hollard Group Executive and the Hollard Board and Committees.

    Experience

    Required Knowledge and Experience

    • At least 3-5 years’ post qualification experience
    • Calculation of the SCR for non-life licenses
    • Calculation of technical provisions across all lines of business
    • Experience in product pricing using GLMs and other methods
    • Understanding of reinsurance structures and optimization of reinsurance programs
    • Understanding of balance sheet optimization techniques

    Skills

    • Strong technical and analytical skills
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Stakeholder engagement, process improvement and problem-solving skills
    • Proficient in Excel, SQL and ResQ
    • Highly organised
    • Ability to group and categorise

    Knowledge

    • Thorough understanding of IFRS17 and SAM requirements
    • Short-term Insurance Acts
    • General accounting principles

    Key Responsibilities

    • Involvement in HAF reviews and functions as outlined in GOI 3
    • Regulatory reporting
    • Supporting actuarial involvement in Mergers and Acquisitions
    • Assist with license variation applications to the Prudential Authority
    • Regular engagement with business units actuarial and finance functions, as well as business unit executives, the Hollard group executives and the Hollard board and committees

    Educational Requirements

    • Fellow of the Actuarial Society of South Africa with 3 to 5 year’s post qualification experience in Short Term Insurance.
