    Lecturer/Senior Lecturer - Centre for Development Support (2-Year Contract Appointment) (Job ID: 5845)

    Duties and responsibilities: 

    • Finalise the curriculum for the restructured master's degree.
    • Oversee the development of study guides.
    • Integrate conceptual ideas across all modules/curriculum coherence.
    • Integrate relevant graduate attributes into modules.
    • Ensure pedagogical alignment across modules.
    • Monitor the quality of teaching and learning across all modules.
    • Develop and teach in at least one module.
    • Day-to-day management of research projects on universities and sustainable development:  administration, budgeting, managing post-doctoral fellows on the project, designing and conducting fieldwork interviews and participatory research, drafting papers, organising webinars and other public engagement events, developing project websites. 

    Inherent requirements:

    Lecturer

    • A PhD on NQF Level 10 in Development Studies related to human development and higher education.
    • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in curriculum development and alignment of courses with the guidelines from authorities (for example, SAQA).
    • Proven experience in the delivery of poster or oral presentations at conferences or equivalent activities.
    • Evidence of manuscripts produced that have the potential to be converted or submitted for publication in accredited journals.
    • A good academic record.

    Senior Lecturer

    • PhD on NQF Level 10 in Development Studies related to human development and higher education.
    • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in curriculum development and alignment of courses with the guidelines from authorities (for example, SAQA).
    • Proven experience in the presentation of papers/posters at national scholarly conferences.
    • Proven national recognition for specialist expertise and research in a specific area of scholarship.
    • An NRF rating or demonstrated potential for obtaining an NRF rating.
    • Proven experience in supervision of graduated master’s degree students.
    • A proven research record of relevant publication/s in peer reviewed national and international accredited scientific journals. 
    • Proven experience of service as an active member of a national or international scholarly society or committee or agency concerned with research at higher-education levels.

    Recommendations:

    • Familiarity with higher education research and debates and sustainable development debates.
    • Experience working on a funded research project.
    • Able to work in a teaching team and a research project team.

    Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (in Industrial Psychology or Human Resource Management) (Job ID: 5856)

    Duties and responsibilities: 

    • Teach Industrial Psychology and Human Resource Management modules to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
    • Conduct high-quality research, publish in accredited journals, and deliver quality research outputs in line with the faculty's research strategy.
    • Provide supervision to postgraduate students, namely Honours, Masters, PhD students, and professional industrial psychology interns.
    • Provide leadership in pursuit of the department and faculty strategic plan with regard to research, teaching engaged scholarship and leadership and administration.
    • Perform academic administration pertaining to undergraduate and postgraduate subjects – this may include typing, setting, and marking all question papers and memorandums, recording marks and handling student complaints.
    • Serve as a member of various academic committees and perform any other tasks allocated by the Dean and head of the department.
    • Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with relevant research, civil society, government, industry, and professional organisations.
    • Contribute to curriculum development within the faculty.
    • Contribute towards creating a strong African Sociology academic identity.

    Inherent Job requirements:

    Lecturer:

    • A relevant Doctoral degree on NQF Level 10 in Industrial Psychology or Human Resource Management and registered with the HPCSA as an Industrial Psychologist or registered with the SABPP (permanent appointment).

    OR

    • Relevant master’s degree on NQF Level 9 in Industrial Psychology/ Human Resource Management and registered with the HPCSA as an Industrial Psychologist or registered with the SABPP (contract appointment: 5 years, during which a PhD on NQF Level 10 Industrial Psychology/ Human Resource Management must be obtained to be converted into a permanent appointment).
    • Registered Industrial Psychologist should show evidence of professional supervision of intern Industrial Psychologists.
    • Proven experience in poster or oral presentation at conferences and publication of articles.
    • Provide evidence of manuscripts produced that have the potential to be converted or submitted for publication, ideally in an accredited journal.

    Senior Lecturer

    • A relevant Doctoral degree on NQF Level 10 in Industrial Psychology or Human Resource Management and registered with the HPCSA as an Industrial Psychologist or registered with the SABPP.
    • Proven record of teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level 
    • Proven experience supervising to completion of Master’s, PhD students and if registered as an Industrial Psychologist, Industrial Psychology interns. 
    • Proven experience in the presentation of papers at national scholarly conferences. 
    • Proven national recognition for specialist expertise and research in a specific area of scholarship. 
    • An NRF rating or demonstrate potential for obtaining an NRF rating. 
    • A proven research record of relevant publications in national and international accredited journals. 
    • Proven experience of service as an active member of a national or international scholarly society or committee, or agency. 

    Recommendations:

    • Proven lecturing experience in the Higher Education environment.
    • Evidence of professional supervision of intern industrial psychologists.
    • Proven experience in presenting Industrial Psychology modules.
    • Excellent research record, as demonstrated by the applicant’s completed master’s or PhD studies.
    • Proficiency in computer skills, e.g., MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Proven skills in data analysis using IBM SPSS, AMOS, AtlasTi, Nvivo and PLS.
    • Good command of the English language.
