    Professor/ Associate Professor and Head of Department - Department of Auditing - 25006

    • The Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences requires the services of a dynamic person of proven academic stature with relevant management experience to lead the Department of Auditing.

    Responsibilities

    • The strategic, academic and operational management of the Department;
    • Promoting, planning, organising and managing academic and research programmes and the Department’s research profile;
    • Recruiting and managing professional personnel;
    • Managing all financial activities including externally funded projects;
    • Playing an active role as academic leader of the discipline at a national and international level;
    • Marketing and growing the Department on all levels.

    Minimum Requirements
    Professor:

    • A relevant doctorate degree in a financial sciences related field;
    • Registration with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants as a Chartered Accountant (SA); OR with the Institute of Internal Auditors as a Certified Internal Auditor;
    • Recognised academic status in a broader discipline of finance;
    • A proven research and publication record in accredited journals;
    • Experience in the successful graduation of PhD graduates; and
    • An established national and international profile and network.

    Associate Professor

    • A relevant doctorate degree in a financial sciences related field;
    • Registration with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants as a Chartered Accountant (SA); OR with the Institute of Internal Auditors as a Certified Internal Auditor
    • Recognised academic status in a broader discipline of finance;
    • A proven research and publication record in accredited journals;
    • Supervision of PhD and graduation of Master’s candidates;

    Competencies (skills, Knowledge And Behavioural Attributes)

    • Strong leadership, interpersonal and excellent communication skills;
    • Experience in high-level liaison with internal and external stakeholders and professional boards; and
    • An appropriate vision for the Department.

    Accountant - 24999

    Responsibilities
    The incumbent responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Administrating salary costs in the general ledger, cost centres and accounts;
    • Reconciling and recording of allocated accounts;
    • Balancing monthly and annual financial statements;
    • Processing payments of third-party recons and interim salaries for the payroll department;
    • Calculating amounts overpaid on the payroll system and liaising with payroll officers to complete corrective inputs on the system;
    • Reviewing corrective inputs for accuracy and creating debtors’ accounts on the HR system in liaison with debtors;
    • Calculating and reviewing deductions made through payroll to avoid over- or underpayment of the group and provident fund; and
    • Providing necessary training and development to personnel members through relevant applicable interventions.

    Minimum Requirements

    • B Com degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources or other relevant Bachelor’s/BTech degree;
    • Four years’ working experience in:
    • Payroll;
    • Financial; and
    • General ledger reconciliations;
    • A valid Driver’s Licence.

    • Relevant tax legislation;
    • Relevant SARS rules and regulations;
    • UP Pension, provident and group life rules;
    • UP internal policies;
    • Staff management;
    • Creation and maintenance of payroll parameters essential for GL Balancing;

    • Ability to accomplish tasks and processes accurately and completely;
    • Ability to use appropriate interpersonal skills and methods to reduce tension and resolve conflict;
    • Ability to deal with high stress situations calmly and effectively;

    • Ability to Identify problems, determine possible solutions, and actively work to resolve the issues;
    • Knowledge of and ability to use effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions and/or reaching conclusions;

    Sector Manager: Industrial Hygiene & Building Services - 25026

    Responsibilities

    • The incumbent will be required to plan, control and manage daily cleaning operations and optimum use of material and human resources.

    The Sector Manager Will Be Responsible For The Following

    • Manage daily activities of cleaning staff;
    • Plan, organise and direct staff to ensure the highest degree of customer satisfaction;
    • Management of disciplinary procedures;
    • Client service: Evaluate customer requirements and ensure that these are met;
    • Inspections: Daily inspections of dedicated facilities, record findings and rectify deviances from specifications;
    • Manage of special events;
    • Provision off and managing consumables and equipment;
    • Train and teach new employees.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Grade 12;
    • Health and Safety Certificate;
    • Five Years relevant cleaning experience with experience in management/supervision.
