    What you'll do

    Fish Filleter (Milnerton Rural)

    Job description

    This is a summary of what the job involves to help you decide if you are a good fit.

    • As a Fish Filleter, your role is vital in preparing fish for our customers. You'll be working with different types of fish, making sure they are cleaned, cut, and ready to be cooked or sold. Your careful hands and attention to detail will help us deliver quality fish to our customers. This position reports directly to the Supervisor and will be required to work different shifts across trading and non-trading hours, including Sundays and Public Holiday.

    What you'll do

    This is a list of tasks that you will be responsible for doing on your days at work.

    • Assist in filleting of fish and ensure attention to detail and freshness
    • Provide exceptional service to customers daily with a positive attitude.
    • Merchandise the fresh fish counter and seafood freezers.
    • Maintain and follow housekeeping and food safety procedures in line with company policy
    • Ensure all operational systems are maintained
    • Assist in managing waste and shrinkages in the department in line with budget
    • Assist with weekly stock takes in the fish department
    • Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements and maximizing sales in department
    • Maintain strong communication and time management skills
    • Maintain solid knowledge of products on sale as well as product codes
    • Use knives and tools (bandsaw) to cut and fillet fish into the right sizes.
    • Work efficiently to get the job done, especially during busy times.
    • Good knowledge of fresh/frozen fish (local & imported) and how to work with fish

    • Meeting the preferences would be a plus, but if you don't, it won't stop companies from considering you.
