Northam Eland Platinum Mine has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanised Shift Supervisor who will be appointed 2.15.1 in terms of the MHSA and regulations to ensure compliance to legal requirements . The successful candidate will also be responsible for achievement of integrated production targets, health and safety and managing costs in area of responsibility. Guided by our purpose and our values, we enable both high performance and purposeful action as we aim to promote “Smart Platinum Mining ", delivering on metals (PGMs) including platinum, palladium, rhodium, iridium, ruthenium and osmium.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or NQF level 4 equivalent qualification is essential
• Blasting Certificate as recognised by the MQA
• Recognised Shift Supervisor Certificate

Experience

• Three (3) years’ experience as a Mechanised Shift Supervisor in an underground mining environment:

Key performance areas

• As our Mechanised Shift Supervisor some of your responsibilities will include but not limited to: 
• Monitor and implement a safe, efficient and cost effective working environment
• Monitor and check that the explosives are organised by the miner
• Plan and organize material for the shift
• Safe achievement of production targets in line with quality standards and targets
• Check and monitor the conditions of the grizzlies and for any obstruction
• Continuously check the conditions of the drives, roadways, pipes, refuge bay, RNE pumps and all abandoned areas to be barricaded off
• Monitor the safety of the maintenance crew, tramming and all sub standards acts and conditions that is related
• Compile a daily production report
• Notify the Mine Overseer of critical areas observed e.g. FOG
• Continually check for gasses and support structures
• Check on compliance of TMM operators
• Inspect working places according to supervision points
• Ensure compliance to safety standards and procedures

• Knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act, Regulations and Definitions
• Valid First Aid Certificate
• Medical Certificate of Fitness

Job description
Northam Eland Platinum Mine has an exciting opportunity for a Drill Rig Operator who will be responsible for performing safe barring practices, support and service holes for blasting by means of Access Rig Drill Rig machine. Guided by our purpose and our values, we enable both high performance and purposeful action as we aim to promote “Smart Platinum Mining ", delivering on metals (PGMs) including platinum, palladium, rhodium, iridium, ruthenium and osmium.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or NQF level 4 equivalent qualification is essential
• Competent B certificate of competency
• Drill Rig Operator Certificate of competency
• Proven track record (Record of Service)

Experience

• Minimum Five (5) years’ proven drilling experience in a mining environment
• Operating and drilling experience with a Drill Rig machine
• Key performance areas
• As our Drill Rig Operator some of your responsibilities will include but not limited to: 
• Daily inspect, testing and operation of Drill Rig
• Drilling of support units
• Drilling of declines (sinking)
• Drilling of strike drives and other excavations
• Monitor and check that barring is done in a safe manner according to mine standard
• Conduct a continuous risk assessment in the workplace
• To drill and install mesh and appropriate support as per mine's recommendation and procedure
