    Foreman Computerized Numeric Control (CNC) Workshop & Garage

    Purpose of Job

    • Co-ordination between the spare part manufacturing activities and the maintenance planning department.
    • Supervision over Computerised Numeric Control (CNC) machines and the programming of machines using edge-cam R1. 
    • Assist the team of artisans/ machine operators with the day to day CNC machine operations.

    Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities

    • Manage, Control and operate equipment in areas of responsibility.
    • Safety Management.
    • Ensure that relevant procedures are understood and adhered to.
    • Adhere to ISO standards.
    • Production of spare part drawings and conversion towards CNC machines interface.
    • Set-up of CNC machines / 3 Dimensional printing machines.
    • Proven track record of operating and programming CNC machines, supervisory experience.
    • Organisation of activities to ensure optimal equipment availability and inspection of high quality components.
    • Experience on CNC manufacturing equipment, programming and maintenance.
    • Making Solid-Works drawings and 2D drawings (Solid works and Part modular)
    • Design new components in 3D and manufacturing.
    • Do quality checks during drawing and manufacturing.

    Formal Education

    • Matric or equivalent with Maths & Science (must)
    • Qualified  Artisan Fitter/Toolmaker (Wish)
    • Ability to work Independently (Must)
    • Certificate Edge-cam training by Stillam  (Must)
    • Certificate Part modular training by Stillam (Must)
    • Solid works training (Must)
    • Sound knowledge of all Legal requirements in an explosive environment (must)

    Project Engineer I

    Purpose of Job

    • To support process engineering strategy by meeting production/project targets, providing process engineering technical support, and identifying improvement opportunities. To identify and prevent risks of process/design deviation affecting safety, integrity, and availability.

    Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities

    • Define OWAP and optimum operating window in which the value chain should be operated
    • Monitor and identify improvement opportunities to ensure operation within the OWAP
    • Translate loss accounting into improvement plans
    • Monitor and interpret performance on technical drivers, constraints and levers on value chain level taking upstream and downstream units into account
    • Support shutdown with respect to value chain integration, idea generation and process equipment integrity
    • Monitor adherence to and effectiveness of VPP
    • Analyse effectiveness of data provided for production planning and scheduling processes
    • Report value chain and system heat maps, losses and integrity concerns
    • Assimilate and contextualise data for input into improvement initiatives through technical investigations via the asset management process

    In-Service Inspector 1

    Purpose of Job

    • Accountable as part of the Inspection Authority which is charged (as contemplated in the Pressure Equipment Regulations (PER) and (OSHA Act)) with the following responsibilities:
    • Legal accountability for in-service inspections of all pressure vessels, steam generators, pressure accessories, storage tanks and piping on the various sites to ensure the required integrity of the said equipment and process plants in support of the business needs.  
    • Ensure legal compliance to support the SANAS accredited Risk Based Inspection (RBI) system ensuring that pressure vessels, steam generators, pressure accessories, storage tanks and piping inspection frequencies can be approved by the Inspection Authority for periods in excess of 36 months.
    • Ensure compliance to the PER, SANS 10227, SANS 17020 & various approved Health and Safety Standards during all in-service inspections as a certified In-service Inspector and SANAS technical signatory.

    Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities

    • Accountable for in-service inspections of all pressure vessels, steam generators, storage tanks, pressure accessories and piping to comply with regulatory requirements and to ensure equipment integrity, availability and safety for the units allocated as per the legal appointments. Have reports compiled and ensure archiving. Responsible for regular follow-up on outstanding legal documentation.
    • Accountable as part of the Inspection Authority to ensure legal compliance to support the SANAS accredited Risk Based Inspection (RBI) system ensuring that the pressure vessels, steam generators pressure accessories, storage tanks and piping inspection frequencies can be approved by the Secunda Synfuels Inspection Authority for periods in excess of 36 months. The Inspection Authority is the only entity which is legally accountable for changing frequencies in excess of 36 months.
    • Issuing of recommendations for repairs to ensure continued safe operation and therefore the continuous availability of process plants.
    • Training of Trainee Inspectors, competency development to achieve SAQCC accredited Competent Inspectors (CP) certification.
    • Capable of the use of specialised equipment and to determine the correct area of use for the inspection of equipment.
    • Interpretation of High Tec NDT results to allow for further action to be taken to ensure integrity.

    • Inspection responsibilities include utilisation of specialised inspection equipment to be used during the inspections; perform & evaluate visual inspections, wall thickness measurements, magnetic particle testing, dye penetrant testing; review and interpret radiographs; and witness pressure tests.
    • Recommend specific repair actions or alternative recommendations arising from inspections using specialised knowledge.
    • Verify the condition of equipment or parts thereof after any change in condition or repairs to equipment, so that maximum integrity and minimum equipment downtime will result.
    • Predict when equipment needs to be replaced by evaluating all inspection results.
    • Document all inspections findings and recommendations by composing individual technical reports in order that actual or potential problems are documented for further action and to comply with the PER.
    • Perform detail inspections as required when fitness-for-service calculations are performed.
    • Evaluate and comment on frequency reviews.
    • Certify the calibration and setting of safety devices and appurtenances for compliance to codes.
