    Snr Spec: Release Train Engineer

    Purpose

    • Facilitates the Agile Release Train events and processes and assists the teams in delivering value. The Release Train Engineer communicates with stakeholders, escalate impediments, helps manage risk, and drives relentless improvement.

    Minimum Experience

    • 3 - 5 years experience in a similar environment, of which 1 -2 years at a junior specialist level

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas [NQF Level 07] in Information Technology and Computer Sciences

    Additional Minimum Qualifications

    • Scrum Master Certification, SAFe Scrum Master certification, SAFe Release Train Engineering certification. Agile Product management

    • Apply relevant research methodologies, tools and techniques to effectively and purposefully gather information.
    • Understand and apply existing best practice frameworks to assist in the implementation of identified subject matter processes and standards.
    • Provide specialist advice and support in area of accountability to ensure that identified solutions and recommendations are appropriate and effective.
    • Provide ongoing facilitation and coaching that enables your team to excel at agile development.
    • Continuously seek to improve team performance by promoting joint accountability for results and solving productivity issues.
    • Facilitates meetings and helps teams find innovative ways of resolving dependencies and navigating complex business and technical trade-offs.
    • Accountable for the improvement of quality, service and work outputs, continuously recommending improvements.
    • Plan for the organisation of work outputs and process improvement activities in light of a specific situational context related to the area of specialisation.
    • Proactively identify area of specialisation related problems, determine cause and effect and recommend the best option to implement corrective action based on previous experience.
    • Manages and optimises the flow of value through the Agile Release Train
    • Manages programme backlog and maps to team and portfolio backlog.
    • Optimises and records various tools, such as the Program Board and Solution Kanbans and other information radiators.
    • Facillitates relentless improvement interventions, methodologies and processes for the Agile release train.
    • Collaborates with scrum masters to understand outcomes of retrospective continuous improvement backlog items.
    • Operates as a servant leader for the Agile Release Train by coaching and mentoring Scrum Masters and Product Owners.
    • Continually promotes and fosters systems thinking within the Agile Release Train.
    • Continually asks, inquires and poses powerful and insightful questioning to enable critical thinking skills in the teams.
    • Updates the Program Board and Program Kanban and other information radiators.
    • Facilitating PI Planning readiness including pre and post planning events, and the event itself
    • Facillitating dependency management or impediment resolution through Scrum of Scrums/PO Syncs and other Agile Release Train events.
    • Defining metrics in alignment with Liberty Portfolio Management Office and other stakeholders.
    • Tracking and communicating key Agile Release Train execution metrics and making them visible on current work management tools and Kanban boards.
    • Provides support in tracking of metrics at Team and Agile Release Train level.
    • Run Inspect and Adapt and problem solving workshops.
    • Defines assessments at Team and Agile Release Train levels to support continuous improvement.

    Customer

    • Provide specialist expertise and advice to internal/external customers, that builds strong relationships and creates a favourable impression aligned to Treating the Customer Fairly (TCF) principles.
    • Work with Product Management to facilitate flow of work from portfolio and solution backlogs to Agile Release Train backlog.
    • Socialises features and enablers with the teams on the Agile Release Train..
    • Fostering collaboration between teams and Agile Release Train stakeholders.
    • Fostering policies of systems engineering. Dev Ops practice to support Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment and release on demand.
    • Escalating and tracking Agile Release Train impediments through Scrum of Scrums and Product Owner sync ceremonies.

    • Adhere to financial controls, governance and compliance policies and processes throughout an area of specialisation, contributing to cost efficiency.

    Specialist: Commissions Product Owner

    About the role

    • To define stories and prioritize the team backlog to streamline the execution of program priorities while maintaining the conceptual and technical integrity of the features or components for the team.

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience

    • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent
    • Scaled Agile Framework (Leading SAFe, SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM)
    • Entry level BA certification
    • 2-3 years experience in a similar environment

    Key Responsibilities

    • Collect information and associated documentation required to effectively process transactions.
    • Type, edit and generate a variety of documents and where necessary produce reports according to set standards and prescribed guidelines.
    • Plan for, administer and process project management related tasks and activities effectively and efficiently in alignment with performance objectives.
    • Contribute to the provision of a comprehensive admin. service through the correct interpretation and application of procedures to optimise delivery.
    • Utilise a variety of software packages to produce correspondence and documents and maintain associated records, spreadsheets and databases.
    • Collect information for project tracking and status reporting according to defined project reporting standards.
    • Accountable for the execution of specialised work including the improvement of quality, standards and outputs within defined work routines and operating procedures.
    • Proactively solves problems, determines root-cause and applies solutions in line with guidelines and providing the necessary information to solve problems related to area of specialisation.
    • Plan for own task execution and advises on improvements related to area of specialisation.
    • Plan for task execution and adjust priorities against an established plan.
    • Manage and monitor the implementation of the Agile capability activities and processes in order to deliver on approved operational plans in an effective and efficient manner.
    • Proactively identify problems, apply known solutions and escalate more difficult problems, and continuously recommending improvements.
    • Accountable for own work quality, standards and outputs related to policies, procedures and defined processes.
