    Superintendent X 4 RSE (Fixed Term Contract)

    Position Purpose

    • To manage and provide a cost-effective service by managing all resources to ensure business achieves the set goals in accordance with customer requirements and supervise the team and also applying the OHS Act continuously. To increase the productivity and efficiency of the floor and team by implementing effective controls to ensure smooth operation of the business.

    Position Outputs

    The following are key functions and responsibilities of the post:

    • To meet Daily Production Outputs to achieve timely customer deliveries.
    • Ascertain Quality workmanship.
    • Enforce disciplinary processes and procedures where necessary.
    • Sound knowledge of Welding Principles .
    • Full utilisation of manpower.
    • Proper utilisation of material.
    • Management of staff.
    • Contribute towards lean savings and work with lean initiatives.
    • Identify material and read drawings.
    • Administrative work/statistics
    • Develop personnel.
    • Ensure and encourage safety and quality standards.
    • Exercise effective supervision over staff as well as the support staff provided to assist artisans.
    • Ensure that SHE, Quality, Procurement and other relevant standards are complied with.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Qualified Artisan (Electrical or Mechanical)
    • 3 Years operational experience as Master Artisan

    OR

    • 8 years’ experience as 100% Artisan.
    • Supervisory experience (Advantageous).
    • Must be willing to work shifts.
    • Transnet Supervisory Development Programme (advantage).

    Programmer- (Fixed Term Contract)

    Position Purpose

    • To program and develop new products to be machined and safe for future operations. Give on job training to operator so that production can go on also to control output of the product

    Position Outputs

    • Setting up a job with minimal tolerance according to ISO standards.
    • Probe calibrating, setting different datum points with probe, measuring bogie from start to finish with 2 tolerances, measure with special plains
    • Calculate the measuring, inflicts if it’s cold or hot the measuring instrument inside.
    • Starting machine referencing axes on heads
    • Setting up datum points for different jobs, shift between different datum points with accurate set up
    • Setting up tool lengths, diameter in tool caracal and outside caracal and solve problems, error codes during the tool change.
    • Set job one side off Zayer bed, while setting up other side plus moving machine between different beds with programs
    • Writing programs on the Heidenheid system, EZ-CAM loading it on Zayer and solves problems, error codes due to special planes selected and head being used.
    • Changing parameters inside the Zayer to suitable for the job on the machine and alter programs
    • Write programs with function off using all three heads and all 5 axes (XYZAC AXIS)
    • Control, train and assist normal artisan and trade hand on computerized Numerical control machines (Skills transfer)
    • Assist on writing SOP for the specific product
    • Operating the computer with Fanuc system

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Qualified Turner Machinist
    • 5 years’ experience working with machines
    • Certificate in Programming Heidenhein system
    • EZCAM Design & Programming Certificate
    • Extensive knowledge on Fanuc system

    Employee Relations Manager (ELN)

    Position Purpose

    • To manage the Employee Relations Department so as to ensure that individual and collective conflict areas are managed effectively and efficiently in line with policies and legislation and that communication channels in the Port of East London function effectively to ensure a good healthy work environment will be created, which in turn will accomplish maximum productivity and minimise labour disputes. Serve as a Conciliator (of disputes) for and on behalf of the Transnet Bargaining Council.

    Position Outputs

    • Manage budget to ensure compliance with good corporate governance and within approved budget.
    • Manage Employee Relations function in order to ensure a quality service is provided to all clients in terms of the HR Service Level Agreement.
    • To proactively determine, creatively advise, implement and maintain best employee relations practices that ensure legislative and policy compliance, uniformity, fairness and acceptance amongst management and employees exists.
    • To develop and conduct training on Industrial Relations and company policy to ensure that employees and supervisors are aware and comply with labour law rights and duties and are competent in following company procedures and complying with legislative requirements.
    • To analyse, advice, consult, negotiate, seek mandates, prepare and represent Transnet in labour dispute resolution procedures.
    • To audit and monitor the organisational climate in order to detect and remedy conflict, and to manage industrial action through the development of contingency plans that ensure legislative compliance and reduce disruptions to business activities.
    • To ensure compliance with signed recognition agreements which foster sound business working relationships with officials and shop stewards of recognised trade unions.
    • Monitoring management communications and distributing Port briefs to maintain sound down-ward communication.
    • To analyse, plan, implement, manage and monitor employee related management projects successfully to ensure best business practice.
    • Manage the formal consultative structures between management and the trade unions to ensure sound working relationships exist between management and the trade unions.
    • Manage and facilitate Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures to ensure compliance to such procedures and to avoid and/or minimise declarations of disputes.
    • Conciliate disputes for all Transnet Operating Divisions as appointed by the Transnet Bargaining Council (TBC) to ensure that the TBC complies with its obligations i.t.o the Labour Relations Act.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • M+3 Employee Relations Diploma/Degree Labour Law Certificate/ Diploma 8 Years Relevant Experience.
