    Senior Support Technician

    Role Context

    • Analyse support trends to identify opportunities for improved service delivery.
    • Create and submit daily and weekly reports on the Service Desk’s productivity to provide a view of customer service response times.
    • Maintain various back-office IT systems and servers, enabling high availability and security of the Tharisa Minerals (TM) business applications.
    • Maintain configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the Configuration Items.
    • Contribute to the development and improvement of support processes and procedures to enable prompt Service Desk support delivery.
    • Request and allocate required assets and/or resources for the fulfilment of work objectives to guarantee quality outputs.
    • Monitor the use of assets and resources within the team and own area of responsibility, to ensure assets and resources are consistently and appropriately utilised and managed.
    • Provide staff with day-to-day direction and tasks aligned with Departmental procedures, to enable the usage of less resources more efficiently.
    • Take part in the IT asset management by requesting quotes from suppliers, concluding orders, auditing devices delivered and preparing devices for usage, to enable efficient asset utilisation.
    • Manage the retrieval of assets and peripherals for end-users, keeping track of assets and peripherals, to maintain an up-to-date asset database.
    • Prioritise Service Desk tickets to address customer queries in the most efficient manner possible.
    • Use an understanding of customer requirements and business objectives to provide input into how best to address customer needs.
    • Contribute to improving customer support by actively responding to queries and handling complaints.
    • Follow up with customers to identify areas of improvement. Proactively address recurring issues to enable timely and effective solutions for end-users.
    • Use a solid understanding of computer systems, mobile devices, and other technology products to troubleshoot hardware, software, and network problems for internal TM clients.
    • Provide instructions to a non-technical audience, using a technical background, to successfully guide the audience in addressing errors/faults or other technical difficulties.
    • Monitor movements of the Support Technician team to understand whether escalation to superior is required to resolve issues as per Standard Operating Procedures.  
    • Troubleshoot issues at newly commissioned sites on connections, by integrating systems and domains, to ensure smooth operations. Collaborate with System Administrators to resolve problems.
    • Liaise with the Network team to set up the required installation and conduct network tests to support efficient operations.
    • Monitor escalations from junior technicians, checking work completed against Service Level Agreements, to enable prompt support resolution.  
    • Create and manage system permissions for end-users to ensure the correct end-users have system access as required
    • Communicate with all relevant Departments on issues of the area of speciality. Liaise across the relevant Departments by engaging with the appropriate stakeholders to ensure all stakeholders remain abreast of Departmental objectives, any potential derailers are appropriately managed and duplication of work is avoided.
    • Communicate with internal and/or external stakeholders, where required, to achieve work objectives and to maintain relationships.
    • Collaborate with other IT teams to escalate and resolve issues that require specialised expertise.
    • Lead the team according to Tharisa Minerals’ leadership principles and values throughout the entire employee life cycle (performance management, reward etc.) to ensure, inter alia, a high-performance culture.
    • Coach and mentor junior technicians, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team culture.

    Requirements

     Qualifications:

    • Grade 12 (NQF4)
    • ITIL Service Management
    • Diploma (NQF6) in Service Management is advantageous
    • Linux Engineering
    • Microsoft Windows Server MVP 2015
    • VMware Certification
    • Additional certification in Microsoft, Linux, Cisco, or similar technologies is (an added advantage).

    Job specific experience: 

    • Minimum of between four to five (4-5) years relevant experience.
    • Experience using Windows Server Operating Systems (all versions), Windows Server Infrastructure services, DNS, DHCP, IIS, Remote Desktop Services, Exchange Server (All versions, Email), SharePoint fundamental, System Centre Configuration Management, VMware.

    ADT Operator

    Role Context

    Health and Safety

    • Conduct risk and safety inspections, identifying and reporting any risks within the allocated area of operations and completing the requisite checklist recording the associated risks
    • Conduct a prestart safety checklist by inspecting the allocated ADT machine, identifying any risks and concerns and escalating them to the control room and supervisor ensuring all safety requirements are met before the respective ADT is put into operation for the day
    • Conduct continuous risk assessments throughout the day by proactively identifying and reporting identified risks within the areas of operation and collaborating with the various departments to support and maintain a safe working environment
    • Maintain and manage one’s own health and safety across the area of operations by adhering to all health and safety protocols and procedures in order to minimise any incidents within the working environment
    • Promote a culture of Zero harm and emphasize compliance to TM policies, values and ethics, so as to cultivate a workplace culture focused on safety and adherence to company policies, values, and ethical standards

    Equipment Operations

    • Conduct a prestart safety checklist by inspecting the allocated ADT machine, identifying any risks and concerns, and escalating them to the control room and supervisor ensuring all safety requirements are met before the respective ADT is put into operation for the day
    • Manage load and weight distribution across the various ADT’s being operated within this role by understanding weight distribution requirements and constraints for the respective ADT to maintain stability and minimise spillage during transport
    • Move exposed reef throughout the pit within TM by accepting the allocated loads from the excavators and transporting the reef to the crushers for processing, whilst continuously assessing the operational environment and actively avoiding and reporting any risks, to the appropriate stakeholders
    • Contribute toward the construction of the roads in and around the mine as required by business by transporting and laying the respective materials required to build and maintain the roads
    • Manoeuvre the ADT into, around and across various sites, including confined and elevated spaces by analysing the various inclines and environmental factors in order to position the ADT for optimal loading, minimising unnecessary risk and managing the optimal load for transportation
    • Work according to the daily and weekly plan by engaging with the supervisor to understand the intended targets and notifying them of any potential delays (due to breakdowns or any other causes) to enable continuous monitoring of target achievements 
    • Conduct daily housekeeping across the various ADT’s that this role has worked with by cleaning the cabins, conducting an end of shift inspection on the ADT/s and ensuring any required maintenance or cleaning is scheduled accordingly to keep the ADT in peak operational condition

    • Manage the loading of the CAT 6050 excavator by understanding the loading capacity of the shovel ensuring the weight on the machine is appropriately balanced and the integrity of the machine is not compromised during operations
    • Manoeuvre and operate the CAT 6050 excavator into, around and across various sites, including confined and elevated spaces by analysing the various inclines and environmental factors to position the CAT 6050 excavator for optimal loading, minimising unnecessary risk and managing the optimal excavation for transportation
    • Work according to the daily and weekly plan by engaging with the foreman to understand the intended targets and notifying them of any potential delays (due to breakdowns or any other causes) to enable continuous monitoring of target achievements.
    • Conduct daily housekeeping across the CAT 6050 that this role has worked with by cleaning the cabin, conducting an end of shift inspection on the CAT 6050, and ensuring any required maintenance or cleaning is scheduled accordingly to keep the CAT 6050 in peak operational condition
    • Manage the operation of the CAT 6050 by monitoring and controlling the area of operation in and around the excavator ensuring a safe working environment is maintained, reporting any deviations from TM’s health and safety standards
    • Complete all movement logs for the CAT 6050 by recording all movements and loads managed throughout the respective shift to ensure accurate reporting against established targets
    • Monitor all gauges and indicators during the operation of the CAT 6050, focusing on any potential warnings that the excavator produces and ensure that the excavator can be operated safely and inline with the required parameters of the machine
    • Track fuel consumption for the CAT 6050 by monitoring the fuel gauge and proactively communicating with the Diesel Bowser before the excavator requires fuel, minimising operational downtime on the machine

    Daily Planning

    • Work in line with the established timelines and pressures by adhering to the daily and weekly operational plans as well as prioritising adhoc daily requests for movements of loads outside of the allocated ‘block/s’
