    Commercial Asset Manager (Solar PV)

    Position of the job in the organisation: The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of Asset Management

    Principal responsibilities:

    Contract Management:

    • Manage contracts for solar project special purpose vehicles (SPVs), including monitoring, reporting, and providing financial and administrative support.
    • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, including service level agreements (SLAs), and identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Interpret contracts where there are disputes or ambiguities in the customer or other stakeholder relationships.

    Customer experience & relationship management:

    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, investors, and other stakeholders.
    • Ensure timely and effective resolution of customer issues, maintaining high levels of satisfaction.:
    • Take over the customer relationship from sales upon signature of the agreement with the customer.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers from deal signature through to operations & maintenance of the assets.
    • Act as the primary contact person for customers and address any issues or concerns promptly.
    • Oversee the customer relationship through the engineering and projects phases through to operations & maintenance of the asset.

    Co-ordinate cross-functional teams to deliver excellent customer experiences:

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, finance, and project development, to support the successful operation and optimisation of renewable energy projects.
    • Lead cross-functional meetings and initiatives to enhance customer service and asset performance.
    • Foster a collaborative environment where team members feel valued and heard. Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners to coordinate activities and resolve technical issues.

    Oversee financial analysis & management of customers:

    • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular reports on asset performance.
    • Ensure timely and high-quality reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Oversee customer billing and ensure completion by the third business day of each month.

    Customer Visits and Data Management:

    • Visit customers regularly to ensure a strong relationship is maintained and customer satisfaction is continuously improved. At least four visits per year.
    • Maintain data security and confidentiality of project-related information and documentation.

    Project Optimisation:

    • Together with the Technical Asset Manager, evaluate asset performance and identify opportunities to optimise performance, reduce downtime, and improve efficiency.
    • Review and enhance maintenance strategies and activities to maximise asset uptime and minimise disruptions.
    • Together with the Technical Asset Manager, establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor the performance of each asset and track progress over time.

    Health and Safety Compliance:

    • Comply with all required fire, health, and safety requirements for the environment you are working in, including attending any required training and acting in accordance with policies and risk assessments.
    • Any other job duties associated with this role or any other reasonable request by management

    PERSON DESCRIPTION

    Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in finance, management, law or related field would be advantageous.
    • 3+ years of proven experience in customer management.
    • Strong understanding of contracts and finances.
    • Valid driver's license and willing to travel

    Specific attributes:

    • Demonstrated experience in contract management, including monitoring, reporting, and providing financial and administrative support.
    • Proven ability to optimise customer asset performance and reduce downtime through effective contract management.
    • Strong customer orientation.
    • Experience in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

    Desirable attributes:

    • Experience in the renewables industry – preferred.

    Junior Project Developer

    Position of the job in the organisation:

    • The Junior Project developer will report directly to the Project Developer.

    Principal responsibilities:

    • Identification and assessment of potential sites for development, providing recommendations on suitability.
    • Attending development team meetings and coordinating resulting tasks.
    • Liaising with engineering teams to coordinate provision of drawings, and checking layouts and drawings to ensure all requirements have been met.
    • Contribute to the maintenance of up-to-date project trackers
    • Assist and co-develop develop projects from greenfield to financial close
    • Weekly progress and cashflow updates
    • Facilitate and conduct site screenings
    • Manage development program & deliverables specialist support
    • Stakeholder management
    • Any other job duties associated with this role 

    PERSON DESCRIPTION

    Experience:

    • Three - Five years of proven experience in site management or project management or related field.
    • A deep understanding of renewable project development, timelines and stakeholders
    • Valid driver's license and willing to travel.

    Specific attributes:

    • An interest in renewable energy will be essential for the role; experience in the field, however, is not.
    • With a willingness to learn, the role will be ever-changing due to its nature. Being curious and asking the more senior team members around you questions to get up to speed will help you succeed.
    • Excellent organisational and time management skills are essential for the role; you will need to be able to prioritise your workload while always looking for ways to improve existing practices.
    • Collaborative: you will work closely with the development teams and external parties. Being able to provide and request information throughout the development process will be essential.

    Project Developer

    Position of the job in the organisation:

    •  The successful candidate will report directly to the Project Developer.

    Principal responsibilities:

    • Identify potential sites for solar projects and conduct feasibility studies to assess suitability.
    • Negotiate and secure land leases or purchase agreements with landowners and stakeholders, considering solar resource availability, land use regulations, and environmental factors.
    • Oversee project development, including equipment selection, system design, and construction management.
    • Develop and manage project budgets, including cost estimates, financial models, and funding strategies.
    • Secure financing from investors or lenders and manage financial risks associated with the project.
    • Collaborate with finance and investment teams to optimise project financial structures.
    • Navigate regulatory requirements and obtain necessary permits for project advancement.
    • Liaise with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with environmental impact assessments, land use permits, and zoning regulations.
    • Develop strategies to streamline the permitting process and mitigate delays.
    • Manage relationships with landowners, investors, contractors, regulators, and local communities.
    • Maintain open communication channels with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, addressing concerns and resolving conflicts.
    • Support business development by identifying partnerships and opportunities for project acquisitions, joint ventures, or portfolio expansion.
    • Stay informed on market trends, policy developments, and emerging technologies to inform project strategies.
    • Identify and assess project risks, implementing mitigation strategies and maintain risk registers.
    • Prepare regular progress reports, including financial updates, permitting status, and stakeholder engagement.
    • Maintain accurate project documentation, contracts, permits, and compliance records.
    • Ensure compliance with internal reporting requirements and external regulatory obligations.
    • Perform any other job duties associated with this role.

    PERSON DESCRIPTION

    Experience:

    • Bachelor's in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field; a master's is a plus.
    • Experience in renewable energy project development, focusing on utility-scale projects.
    • Strong in IPP models, project finance, solar PV development, and commercial aspects; proven in deal closure, client acquisition, and bids.
    • Skilled in project management, team leadership, and stakeholder communication.
    • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel within South Africa and across Africa as required.

    Specific attributes:

    • Experience negotiating land leases and handling complex stakeholder discussions.
    • Successful management of large-scale solar projects from start to finish.
    • Problem-solving skills to keep projects on track.
    • Proficiency in budgeting, financial models, and securing financing.

    Desirable attributes:

    • Skilled in stakeholder engagement, including landowners, investors, and contractors.
    • Adaptable and resilient in dynamic environments.
    • Strategic thinker with a focus on growth opportunities.
    • Team leadership and collaboration skills.
