    Learner Chargehand Diamond Drilling - Carltonville

    Job description

    The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

    • Effectively manage team of general workers safely perform the duties of a Learner Chargehand Diamond Drill and in the process achieve competency at this entry level role.
    • Successfully complete on the job practical work and theory at the M&RC Training Academy.
    • Safely operate diamond drilling equipment under supervision.
    • Follow lock out procedures.
    • Effective engagement with facilitator, coach, assessors and site team.
    • Complete administrative tasks accurately and timeously.
    • Understand and comply with M&RC’S standards, policies, procedures and safety protocols.
    • Proactive risk identification and mitigation, escalate and report timeously.
    • Effective self and team supervision in alignment with M&RC’s values and leadership initiatives.

    Minimum requirements

    Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

    • Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 equivalent
    • Trade Certificate or Team Leader Certificate
    • Diamond Drill Operator technical skills Certificate or similar (preferred) 
    • Valid EB Driver’s License (advantageous)
    • Competent A & B certificates (If not obtained, obtain in-house)
    • Good English written and verbal communication skills.

    Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

    • At least 3 years of experience as a Team Leader underground if in possession of a Team Leader Certificate
    • Experience on Diamond Drilling Operations is advantageous if in possession of a Trade Certificate
    • Sound knowledge of Diamond Drilling Operations, equipment and methods
    • Understanding of a baseline risk assessment with ability to complete an issue base risk assessment independently.

    Shift Supervisor Mining-Karee 4 - Marikana

    Job description
    The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

    • Effective daily planning, organising and control within area of responsibility to achieve daily production, quality and safety targets
    • Management of materials, consumables and explosives within tolerances for total section
    • Accurate, timely, thorough reporting in line with the DMR, M&RC and client requirements
    • Managing team performance and ensuring a competent, motivated and positive team
    • Compliance with SHEQ, M&RC and client standards, policies and procedures
    • Team and Self understand and comply with M&RC and client standards, policies, procedures and safety protocols
    • Ensure cost containment in section
    • Monthly planning and measuring of total section
    • Effective Team and self-management and alignment with M&RC values and leadership initiatives
    • Development and mining construction for total section

    Minimum requirements
    Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

    • Grade 12 or equivalent NQF level 4
    • Blasting Certificate of Competency
    • Recognised Shift Supervisor Certificate
    • Sound planning and organising skills
    • Studying towards a Mine Overseer Certificate (advantageous)
    • Good Leadership, coaching and interpersonal skills
    • Good English written and verbal communication skills

    Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

    • Minimum 5 years of experience in mining environment
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in shaft and Orepass rehabilitation / secondary support such as wire mesh and lacing, installation of long anchors and specialized support projects in a supervisory or management position
    • Previous experience as a miner general or equivalent in mining environment
    • Experience in managing subcontractors in mining, construction and underground environment
    • Planning, production and shaft rehabilitation skills with sound knowledge of mining operations
