    Officer: Client Services

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Support student registration procedures.
    • Aid in provisional registration processes.
    • Record external bursary details.
    • Facilitate negotiations for payment arrangements.
    • Address inquiries related to accounts.
    • Document adjustments and modifications to accounts.
    • Manage the collection of fees from registered students.
    • Execute refund processing.
    • Produce account statements.
    • Perform account reconciliation tasks.
    • Maintain a log of resolved inquiries.
    • Allocate student allowances.

    Inherent requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree on NQF level 7 in Accounting.
    • A minimum of two (2) to three (3) years’ relevant working experience related to the duties and responsibilities.

    Coordinator: Legal Service (Lecturer/Senior Lecturer)

    Duties and responsibilities: 

    • Coordinate, manage and administer the Centre’s strategic litigation work.
    • Identify, initiate, and manage suitable cases for the Centre’s strategic litigation work.
    • Liaise with and manage clients in strategic litigation.
    • Coordinate the drafting of legal documents for the Centre’s strategic litigation in cooperation with the Centre’s Director, the attorney in the Legal Services Division and counsel.
    • Generate funds for the Centre’s Legal Services Division.
    • Link and collaborate with the different branches of the legal profession, NGO’s and the South African Human Rights Commission in Bloemfontein and the Free State Province to promote public interest litigation in the Free State.
    • Contribute to the Centre’s research/publication output by publishing in accredited scholarly journals and books.
    • Supervise postgraduate students in the Centre.
    • Teach in the Centre’s Interdisciplinary Master’s Degree in Human Rights.
    • Collaborate with other entities within the UFS on human rights and transformation-related initiatives.

    Inherent requirements:

    • Lecturer
    • A PhD in Law or related discipline on NQF Level 10 (for a permanent appointment) 
    • or
    • Master’s degree in Law or related discipline on NQF Level 9 (contract appointment: five years during which a PhD on NQF Level 10 in Law or related discipline MUST be obtained to be converted to a permanent position). 
    • Proven experience in the delivery of poster or oral presentations at conferences or equivalent activities.
    • Evidence of manuscripts produced that have the potential to be converted or submitted for publication in accredited journals.
    • A good academic record.
    • Senior Lecturer
    • PhD on NQF Level 10 in Law or related discipline.
    • Proven experience in the presentation of papers/posters at national scholarly conferences.
    • Proven national recognition for specialist expertise and research in a specific area of scholarship.
    • An NRF rating or demonstrated potential for obtaining an NRF rating.
    • Proven experience in the supervision of graduated master’s degree students.
    • A proven research record of relevant publication/s in peer-reviewed national and international accredited scientific journals. 
    • Proven experience of service as an active member of a national or international scholarly society or committee, or agency concerned with research at higher-education levels.

    Recommendations:

    • Experience in fund-raising in the public interest litigation field.
    • Experience in publishing scholarly research.
    • Experience in postgraduate student supervision.
    • Doctorate in law or a related discipline.
    • Admitted attorney or advocate of the High Court of South Africa.
    • Willing to enrol for a doctoral degree at the first available opportunity if not yet attained by the time of the appointment.

    Lecturer in Nursing

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Responsible for teaching and learning in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the relevant field. This includes lectures, tutorials, practical classes (preparation and presentation), assessments and seminars.
    • Coordinate and lecture modules in applicable fields.
    • Provide clinical supervision of students within the applicable field and relevant fields.
    • Provide support to skills development within the applicable field and relevant fields.
    • Provide supervision for undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.

    • Registered at the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse (General, Psychiatry, and Community Health) Midwife/ Accoucheur.
    • An additional qualification in nursing education.
    • Proven experience in the delivery of poster or oral presentations at conferences or equivalent activities.
    • Provide evidence of manuscripts produced that have the potential to be converted or submitted for publication in accredited journals.

    • Proven clinical experience after basic training.

    Clinical Placement Coordinator

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Do clinical placements according to curriculum guidelines.
    • Capture work-integrated learning data for undergraduate and postgraduate.
    • Keep a record of work-integrated learning data.
    • Report issues and challenges at least weekly.
    • Generate monthly work-integrated learning reports for the purpose of student monitoring.
    • Assist in creating and setting up a clinical placement system.
    • Maintain/develop clear communication channels with students.
    • Attend to student placement enquiries expeditiously.
    • Coordinate students' placement activities.
    • Provide student support in relation to placements.

    Inherent Job requirements:

    • A Bachelor's degree or B Tech degree on NQF level 7 in Health Sciences related fields.
