    Engineer Analysis & Improvement Maintenance - South32, Richards Bay

    POSITION SYNOPSIS:

    • The purpose of this role is to develop, deploy, and continuously improve maintenance work management strategies for an Operation, ensure compliance to work plans and statutory and legislative requirements. to provide organisational governance in the application of SAP processes and promote understanding and compliance to SAP principles.

     

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Serious contenders will have a Degree/BTECH in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Heavy Industry/Mining within Maintenance of Mechanical Plant Equipment;
    • A valid Electrical or Mechanical Trade will be advantageous;
    • 2 Years and more experience in Analysis and Improvement is advantageous;
    • Experience in various types of plant Mechanical Equipment is essential;
    • Experience in Root Cause Analysis and various other Analytical Techniques is advantageous;
    • Experience working on SAP is advantageous.

     
    CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Develop equipment maintenance strategies for all equipment within the operations;
    • Conduct RCA’s to reduce breakdowns & repeat failures;
    • Identify & Implement Continuous Improvement initiatives to reduce cost;
    • SAP Accountabilities;
    • Own all associated task lists and work instructions and must ensure that these are accurately documented and loaded;
    • Identify all equipment requiring inspections and repairs based on legislative and statutory requirements and create master data;
    • Ensure adherence to statutory plans;
    • Develop a maintenance budget based on the preventative and corrective maintenance work strategies;
    • Perform equipment strategy reviews and failure analysis to ensure that all task lists, and work instructions remain accurate and relevant;
    • Update task lists / work instructions and all relevant master data;
    • Cancel system generated work orders that are not to be executed;
    • Review and analyse work management metrics to ensure compliance to the SAP processes;
    • Review / approve SAP Master Data change requests in line with maintenance strategies and content quality requirements;
    • Ensure that all modifications to physical assets, follow Engineering Change management;
    • Encourage, mentor and coach peers and colleagues across operational areas to follow the SAP process by promoting operating discipline;
    • Develop Scope of Work for Maintenance Contracts.

    Engineer Modification Small Projects - South32, Richards Bay

    POSITION SYNOPSIS:

    • To project manage & deliver a Hillside capital portfolio in accordance to company relevant policies, processes, standards and performance targets for HSEC, Quality, Time and Cost.

     

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Serious contenders will have a Completed Degree/BTech/ National Diploma in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a heavy industry;
    • 2 years and more experience in Engineering Capital Project Management is essential;
    • 2 Years and more experience within a Plant / Production Planning area is essential;
    • In depth knowledge of procedures and concepts within engineering functional area is essential;
    • Experience in managing stakeholders, clients, consultants, contractor partners is essential;
    • In Depth understanding of Engineering Designs and Drawings is essential;
    • In Depth understanding of Construction regulations and Construction Management is essential;
    • 2 years and more working experience on SAP is essential;
    • Qualification in Project management e.g Project Management Professional (PMP) is advantageous.
       

    CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Provide input into the Modifications and Small Projects portfolio and related budgets, plans and schedules;
    • Support feasibility studies, cost-benefits analyses, impact assessments and project business cases to obtain project approvals;
    • Project manage the allocated approved Modifications and Small Projects to the defined scope, budget, schedule, standards, and specifications and in accordance with relevant processes and standards for South32 /Operation;
    • Verify Modifications & Small Projects employees and contractors adhere to work standards, are competent, and understand the purpose and functionality of critical controls relevant to their work.;
    • Ensure that allocated modifications and small projects are executed in compliance to SOUTH32/Hillside requirements and relevant internal and external standards;
    • Take shared accountability for the performance of the Modifications & Small Projects team, promote operational discipline in work execution, ensure quality of completed tasks, and enhance technical knowledge of other team members;
    • Requires detailed knowledge of procedures and concepts in own functional area and limited knowledge of other functions. Stakeholder engagement: collaborated with a small group of internal stakeholders on middle management level roles.

    Specialist Contractor - South32, Hotazel Manganese Mines

    POSITION SYNOPSIS:

    • The purpose of this role is to govern the end-to-end Contractor Management activities and monitor compliance to HMM and South32 Contractor Management frameworks, standards, and processes.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Serious contenders will have a Degree/National Diploma in fields associated with Safety, Risk, Engineering, Project, or Mining together with 5 years’ work experience in the Mining Environment and at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity;
    • In-depth computer literacy on MS Suite and SAP is essential;
    • In-depth understanding of performance requirements to guarantee safe outcomes for Contractor Management is essential;
    • Proven ability to plan and execute governance and compliance activities over the end-to-end process with cross functional touchpoints is essential;
    • Experience in engaging with internal and external stakeholders is essential;
    • Demonstrate an understanding of Mine Health and Safety regulations/ Occupational Health and Safety Legislation is essential.

    CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Ensure delivery of the Contractor Management Strategy and operational activities, standards and procedures, systems, processes, and governance models;
    • Conduct Contractor Management Procedure audits and 1st line verifications on contractors;
    • Collaborating with key stakeholders within the Contractor Management framework to uplift capability and maturity to manage contractors safely and effectively;
    • Analyse and audit on and off contract expenditure to maintain operational budgets ensure payments are paid for services rendered;
    • Analysis of Contractor Management processes, systems and data for reporting purposes and to identify improvement opportunity.

    Superintendent Production - South32, Wessels Mine

    POSITION SYNOPSIS:

    • The purpose of this role is to manage and ensure successful production execution processes, while maintaining safety and costs.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Serious contenders will have a Mine Overseer Certificate of Competency/Mine Manager Certificate with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Production & Mining environment of which 2 years must be in a Line Leadership role;
    • Experience of underground drill & blast and logistics requirements is essential;
    • Degree or Diploma Mining Engineering will be advantageous;
    • Knowledge of SAP and MS packages is essential;
    • Valid code 08 driver’s license.
       

    CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Manage mining operations and processes;
    • Monitor daily achievement of targets;
    • Ensuring that the logistics team supports and enables the delivery of areas planned to be mined for the production month;

    • Sign-off and manage the execution of the Monthly Plans;
    • Assist in implementing and assuring project work meets quality requirements;
