    Job Description & Summary

    A career in our Accounting Services Group practice, within Assurance Support services, will provide the opportunity to support our engagement teams and clients by providing advice and counsel on accounting, financial reporting, and strategic business issues. In joining, you’ll help ensure a complete and relevant exchange of information among our consultants and in turn with engagement teams and clients, provide experts advice on a variety of specific topics, support engagement teams in resolving complex issues, and supporting clients and their subsidiaries in evaluating the potential impact of accounting and reporting standard setting initiatives. You’ll develop strong relationships with our engagement teams and established audit clients and enhance our ability to meet greater investor expectations with the challenges of an increasingly complex business environment.

    About the role

    Capital Markets and Accounting Advisory Services is a transactions and accounting advisory business within Assurance providing assistance on deals accounting, capital markets assurance and advisory, IPO readiness and accounting standards change to clients in Southern Africa and the rest of Africa.

    Key responsibilities 

    • Develop a deep understanding of the  business policies, processes, risks and controls.

    • Prepare working papers documenting adequately work performed.

    Role Summary:

    To support the SDC Africa Associate Director  in carrying out the responsibilities and project management of the SDC’s System of Quality Management (QMSE) and Independence requirements. This includes interpretation of SDC QMSE framework, communication, training, consultations and other activities in support of compliance with the QMSE Standards and firms independence policies. The role is envisaged to be 50% QMSE responsibilities and 50% other SDC Africa responsibilities.

    Responsibilities of role:

    Key Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned)

    Quality Management for Service Excellence (PwC’s System of Quality Management - “QMSE”)

    • Critically assess SDC Africa’s response to risks stemming from the application of global quality standards. This will include documenting  the SDC’s and VFS CoE controls and monitoring procedures.
    • Assist with the implementation and assess the SDC and VFS CoEs response to ISQM1 replacing ISQC1.

    Quality Management Review:

    • Support leadership in the run-up of the SDC quality management review and provide them with an objective view on their responses to any queries raised throughout the review.
    • Assist in developing an action plan for any findings stemming from this review.
    • Support global teams performing the quality management review to ensure a seamless and efficient review process.

    Reporting:

    • Assistance with reporting on the SDC and VFS CoE Audit Quality Indicators to the Steering Committee

    Training and Communications:

    • Develop and assist in the implementation of quality related projects and training based on the needs and risk of the SDC and VFS CoE.

    Compliance:

    • Provide support to the SDC Africa Associate Director with the review of the staff independence Quarterly Compliance submissions.

    Skill sets required:

    • Experience in Assurance Line of Service Essential, R&Q experience advantageous
    • Technical research skills - being able to evaluate a situation broadly and to consider all aspects, including Risk Management standards and Quality standards (ISQMs).
    • Highly computer literate with intermediate to advanced knowledge of Google suite.
