    Construction Supervisor – Electrical

    Role Description

    • The Construction Supervisor - Electrical is responsible for logistics, system design, suppliers and sub-contractor management to make sure that the project meets its milestones. The role reports to the Project Manager.

    Education and Experience Requirements

    • Grade 12
    • Technical qualification in Electrical Engineering (i.e. N4)
    • BEng/BSc/B-Tech Degree in Electrical Engineering (advantageous)
    • 6 years Technical Project Management experience
    • Extensive experience in construction/mining Industry
    • MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Projects)
    • Mining Electrical experience will be advantageous
    • Technical Documentation experience is essential
    • Project Management Software knowledge is essential

    Job Requirements

    • Run day-to-day operations on-site, along with the appointed Contractor
    • Control rate of construction progress and schedule work to meet targets
    • Lead inspections, commission daily construction work, and enforce conformity
    • Supervise contractor staff (supervision, clerical staff, site engineers, and site agents)
    • Serve as ‘go-to’ person for information
    • Check process design, review design documentation and drawings
    • Commission the installations in line with operating procedures
    • Resolve problems affecting acceptance and commissioning of completed parts of the project
    • Ensure acceptance for commissioning, that all records confirming that the project has been supplied to the technical specifications are complete and in order
    • Ensure that the construction completion schedules and milestone dates of the Contractor align with the specified takeover and commissioning schedules
    • Coordinate construction on-site
    • Manage project planning and schedule control
    • Liaise with the Chief Engineer and/or his subordinates in the resolution of problems affecting acceptance and commissioning of completed parts of the related project
    • Produce weekly project progress reports and monthly reports highlighting progress, trends, and challenges
    • Ensure that Contractor’s Supervisors are fully conversant with the requirements and procedures of BPM to the extent needed by them to carry out their activities responsibly and efficiently

    Skills Required Comprehensive Knowledge of:

    • Working with quality management approaches, techniques, and principles to ensure quality

    Demonstrated ability in:

    • People management, strategic planning, risk management, change management, and project management
    • Excellent judgment, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
    • Full understanding of software development lifecycle best practices
    • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management
    • Self-motivated individual with excellent time management and organizational skills
    • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, relationship-building skills, and ability to achieve results without direct reporting relationships
    • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to present a polished, professional, and diplomatic image to all stakeholders
    • Strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability for delivering high-quality work

    Auto Electrician (Trackless Electrician)

    Role Description
    The purpose of the role is to deliver applied trade as and when required. It is responsible for the day to day legal preventative maintenance of TMMs. The role reports to the Charge Hand.

    Education and Experience Requirements

    • Grade 12 or N3 in the relevant field
    • Relevant Trade Certificate through a recognised institution and apprenticeship (section 13/26D) in Auto Electrician
    • Minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience as an appointed Auto Electrician is essential, of which 3 years should be in an underground and surface Trackless mining environment
    • Knowledge of Electro-Hydraulics or relevant experience is essential
    • Knowledge of diesel engine components and/or diagnosis of TMM electrical equipment
    • Conversant with the requirements of Mine Health & Safety Act (Act 29 of 1996)
    • Knowledge of planned maintenance

    Job Requirements

    • Provide subject matter expertise and skills in area of responsibility; advising on solutions to enhance or ensure the effectiveness of the department/section
    • Run diagnostic tests on vehicles
    • Analyse diagnostic test results
    • Replace vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions, and braking systems
    • Check vehicle lighting systems
    • Test drive vehicles to gauge performance
    • Perform preventative maintenance on TMMs (i.e. Drill Rigs, Bolter Rigs, Dump Trucks, Telehandlers, etc.)
    • Maintain detailed records of serviced TMMs
    • Adhere to an inspection procedure checklist

    • Maintain a parts inventory
    • Ensure good housekeeping
    • Ensure standard of maintenance work is achieved and preventing repeatable failures

    • Sound planning, leading, and organisational abilities
    • Good fault finding and diagnostic skills
    • Good team leading skills – able to motivate
    • Familiar with Mining Process and Maintenance requirements of related equipment
    • Demonstrate the ability to assess work team and training requirements and implement programme for development
