    Manager: Enterprise Automation

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

    • The Manager: Enterprise Automation is responsible for developing and architecting automated processes and solutions that are used to optimize the management of all IT Infrastructure as well as drive process efficiencies within the organization.

    Key Performance Areas: Core, essential responsibilities / outputs of the position (KPA's)
    The Manager: Enterprise Automation will be accountable to achieve the following objectives:

    • Guide the development, implementation and maintenance of a strategy and framework for Enterprise Automation including documentation of policies and procedures.
    • Develop and maintain Enterprise Automation standards and policies, and ensure that these are available to stakeholders.
    • Foster and evangelize a DevOps culture within operations and support teams and with our partners in development.
    • Work closely with the operations, development, support and business teams to deliver superior processes for provisioning, configuration management and related service, both on-premise and in the cloud and drive continuous improvement of environmental stability while reducing friction and mean time to recovery (MTTR) and deployment
    • Manage technical resources that may be direct reports or matrixed project resources during the implementation of technical automation solutions.
    • Provide granular, transparent, and thorough level of details that can be analysed to identify patterns and to provide insights to make continuous improvements across the enterprise.
    • Identify, track and report on key metrics indicating Automation/DevOps effectiveness
    • Identify and fix incoming problem tickets through rapid resolution of incidents and elimination of human errors that can impact enterprise systems.
    • Monitor automation behaviours, detect failures and identify dependencies to avoid future failure.
    • Continuously monitor the environment of the organisation to detect new patterns, not stopping at the first pattern identification but continuing to look for additional opportunities for improvements, and removing old patterns that are no longer used, obsolete and redundant.
    • Adopt an analytics-driven, continual service improvement process to propose new automation, and use cases and updates to those deployed already by considering trends in the behaviour of active (deployed) automation, new trends in the organisation’s environment, service requests etc.
    • Provide guidance and expertise to stakeholders on Enterprise Automation related issues.
    • Provide insight into (or take the lead on) projects / programmes impacting Enterprise Automation initiatives or objectives.
    • Regularly report status, progress, issues and risks to management, with supporting metrics where available

    Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)
    Education:

    • Minimum of 3 year tertiary degree / diploma
    • Relevant certification / accreditation / membership with professional body is advantageous
    • Fluent in language of country with basic command of English

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an area of specialisation coupled with supervising others
    • Worked across diverse cultures and geographies (advantageous)
    • Self-motivated with strong project and people management skills
    • Experience with installation, configuration, and administration of the relevant technologies – Puppet, Chef, Cloud Orchestration and integration, etc
    • Experience working in a medium to large organization

    Engineer: Security Operations Network

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

    • The IP Security operations engineer will form a part of a highly skilled group of technical experts who are responsible of technical management of the MTN Global connectivity infrastructure especially the IP MPLS network. He will organize, coordinate, and supervise IP peering, network security and support all technical operations (configuration, testing and support) in line with the overall business objectives of the company. The role will oversee the plan, design, and implementation of a secure Global IP/MPLS network to support MTN mobile voice and data, MNC enterprise and/or service provider environment and serve as a subject matter expert for MTN Group for the setting up of IP/MPLS strategies and carry out primary security checks and monitor audit points, security holes and log management, changes and incidents.

    IP security operations will be accountable to achieve the following objectives:

    • Develop and maintain an IP/MPLS network strategy with a 3-5 year technology and OSS roadmap
    • Develop and maintain an IP address management strategy across the OpCos and Global Network
    • Manage overall product life cycle for managed network global products (IP/MPLS, VPN, Managed network, and network security services)
    • Prepare High Level Design and Low-Level Design planning documentation
    • Align the Quality of Services definition and KPI across the Global and OpCo IP/MPLS networks
    • Implement network security policies and procedures for the Global IP/MPLS network
    • Be proactive in recommending improvements to the Global and OpCo IP/MPLS network infrastructure in the drive for best in class service availability and reliability
    • Provide higher technical support to Global NOC and OpCo operations teams with regards to IP/MPLS infrastructure and escalate to vendors the major issues
    • Manage vendors regarding maintenance agreements, incident management and software deployment and circuit provision
    • Supervise IP/MPLS services’ implementation covering the installations, testing & handover

    Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)
    Education:

    • Minimum 4 Year bachelor’s degree in equivalent specialization MSc,

    Experience:

    • Minimum five (3) years in GSM environment

    Competencies:

    • Ability to maintain a large network with complex network technology
    • Excellent TCP/ IP networking skills
    • Detailed knowledge on the international telecommunication infrastructure industry in regard to latest industry trends and competitive landscape within the MTN footprint
    • Strong understanding of managed networks, with proven experience with MPLS technology including L2/L3 VPN and traffic engineering
    • Relevant experience with managed networks, Minimum of 2 years of experience with multi-services platforms, routing platforms, routing protocols SIS/RIP/RSVP/OSPF/BGP/ IbGP/ and troubleshooting down to packet level

    Manager: Subsea Operations

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

    • The Manager: Subsea Operations role is responsible for the management of MTN Global Connect’s consortium submarine cable and other JV investment projects using best practice project management frameworks. This involves managing the implementation of new cables, cable stations, permitting and upgrades to ensure delivery of facilities and capacity on time to meet internal and external demand. This role also includes supporting the recovery of existing investments, pricing, business cases for investments in new cables and other infrastructure, demand and needs forecasting, capacity management, and consortium management.

    The Manager: Subsea Operations role will be accountable to achieve the following objectives:

    • Project manage the implementation of new submarine cables from MTN point of view to ensure cable is delivered on time and within budget according to contractual specifications.
    • Project manage cross functional teams to deliver infrastructure and facilities such as cable stations, fronthaul, backhaul and other related infrastructure.
    • Project manage the procurement and deployment of terminal equipment that interfaces to the subsea cables.
    • Project manage upgrades of existing cable systems.
    • Prepare management reports on the various projects, their progress status, delivery timelines, risks and mitigations etc.
    • Ensure effective participation in the required regulatory process to ensure required permissions are obtained for implementation of infrastructure projects and platforms.
    • Track, support and report on permitting, rights of ways approvals etc.
    • Support commercial and technical activities related to existing MTN GlobalConnect investments in submarine cables and other JV infrastructure, including managing and monitoring the recovery of international infrastructure investment costs.
    • Support commercial and technical activities related to the investments in new subsea cable and JV initiatives, including building the investment and business cases and supporting the decision on prioritisation of investments.
    • Manage cable and JV consortia partners and lobby within the cable consortia to ensure MTN interests are accounted for and that decisions taken are in line with MTN GlobalConnect strategy.
    • Ensure that the project plans for new subsea and infrastructure investments are tracking according to the plans to ensure the realization of the business case and MTN return on investment.
    • Ensure processes and governance relating sub-sea cable and JV activities are effective.
    • Support planning, delivery, contracting and management of international capacity trading, including swaps of submarine cable, terrestrial and other capacity, and connectivity.
    • Assist in financial aspect of recommendations towards implementing strategic changes to subsea cable assets plans.
    • Provide inputs to quarterly analysis of Opco and Group-wide demand forecasts and trends with a view to managing any market and capacity availability risks.
    • Provide ad hoc performance reports, performance scorecard targets and plans related to submarine cable and JV projects, capacity, and business.
    • Participate in subsea cable commercial sub-committees where appropriate.

    Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)
    Education:

    • Minimum 4-year Academic Degree (BBA, Engineering /Computer Science)
    • Project Management certification (such as PMP or equivalent)
    • Post graduate qualification MBA/Masters (Economics, Engineering /Computer Science) preferred
    • – English, French

    Experience:

    • 5+ years relevant project management experience in the deployment and implementation of fixed line international telecommunication industry preferably in enterprise/carrier business

    Manager: Technical Reporting (Financial)

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

    • The Manager: Technical Reporting is responsible for reporting on Capex/Opex spend with particular focus on project risk assessment, project documentation, and agreements from a financial perspective and advising programmes’ on budget matters.
    • Measures of success include the delivery of overall financial reporting for all projects related to Group Technology; and also to ensure the timely tracking and reporting on Capex/Opex spend.

    The Manager: Technical Reporting will be accountable to achieve the following objectives:

    • Ensures accurate consolidation, tracking and reporting of financial data to enable the organisation to have a global financial view of the overall Technology programme for Group Board, EXCO and GoC reports and dashboards reports.
    • Delivers on all finance related administration with respect to CAPEX & OPEX processing and reporting. – Tracks and manages financial targets and KPI’s and provides fit-for-purpose reports to ensure adequate decision making and action by key stakeholders across Technology and impacted business units/OpCo’s.
    • Evaluate financial reporting results and provide insights, implications and recommendations to stakeholders.
    • Provides input and is responsible for supporting the programmes’ budgeting processes.
    • Conducts project risk analysis and propose appropriate alternative solutions to manage / mitigate / minimise the risks for proposed projects.
    • Assist with, and provide input into, due diligence process with the goal of providing financial advice on projects underway.
    • Provide necessary support to line Manager on adhoc requests for PMO finance support
    • Engages with all key stakeholders management to ensure effective communication and reporting in relation to finance.
