    Ops Spec: Database Administrator

    Core Description

    • To provide a stable and secure production database environment which performs in alignment with predefined standards and is recoverable in case of hardware failure or disaster situations.  To provide technical expertise and guidance to Junior Database Administrators. 

    Key Deliverables / Primary Functions

    • Compile and maintain the integrity of a Configuration Management Data Base in alignment with BCX’s standards and using the BCX prescribed systems. 
    • Utilise the BCX Remedy system for request, incident and problem handling, rectifying and implementing preventative actions as and when required. 
    • Continuously monitor performance, analyse trends and tune database for optimum performance and record and build a known error database (KEDB) for Problem Handling (R&D). 
    • Build and maintain a network of support structures e.g. vendors, employees, user groups etc. for consultation purposes. 
    • Continuously stay abreast with the latest release versions and ensure approval of new versions through a user’s acceptance testing (UAT) and quality assurance (QA) process; design and execute a release implementation plan; maintain the Definitive Software Library (DSL); and install, maintain and report license issues as and when they occur.  
    • Continuously monitor and report on space utilisation, execute trend analysis, alerts and escalation; monitor memory utilisation and Central Processing Unit (CPU) at all times. 
    • Devise monitoring methodology and processes, utilise the appropriate toolsets and report on the availability or uptime. 
    • Identify, propose and implement appropriate toolsets for an effective back-up strategy to ensure continuity of services and monitor the back-up strategy on a continuous basis. Validate a DR Plan for the data base(s) under the data centre management, consider the replication, snapshots or remote copy as applicable

    Tech Officer System Engineering: Storage

    Core Description

    • Under general supervision, responsible for installation and modification of IT infrastructure.  Operates closely with senior storage engineer to determine requirements and resolve problems. Co-operates with senior support personnel on customer requirements and needs

    Key Deliverables / Primary Functions

    • Install, maintain, update, and administer Storage and SAN software.
    • Performs storage changes using Change management process and ensures all storage and SAN processes are properly run and managed.
    • Diagnose Storage and SAN platform issues and troubleshoot Storage environment for optimal performance and resolve issues promptly. 
    • System Administration of Windows / Linux / Backup Systems, Storage Appliances, and SAN devices.
    • Perform analysis of storage and SAN infrastructure and makes recommendations on improvements to meet business need and future capacity.

    • Reviews/audit the existing storage and SAN , policies, and operational considerations and recommends and establishes best practices. Ensure Regulatory Compliance. 
    • Create and update documentation including reports, SLA, Job status, Capacity, etc.
    • Documents operational best practices processes and procedures related to the Storage and SAN environment and recommends changes to procedures, resulting in operations optimization and improved service level agreements. 
    • Participates in technical exercises for disaster recovery to ensure high reliability and efficiency.

    Senior Manager

    Core Description

    • Oversee and direct Application Outsource Services Build capabilities within BCX. This includes leading the running and maintenance of the Build component of outsourced applications to clients.

    Key Deliverables / Primary Functions

    • Contribute towards the development of the Application Outsource Build strategy and roadmap to ensure the successful implementation of the strategy to achieve business objectives.

    Manager: Workshop

    Core Description

    • Responsible for ensuring the smooth operations of all the repair and refurbishment processes within the Company, as well as ensuring that all repairs carried out are to satisfactory quality standards.  In addition:
    • Ensuring that the various Repair Centres are run effectively and efficiently, aiding in the delivery of the best possible service to our customers; 
    • Ensuring the cost effectiveness of the repair centre procedures, conducting regular cost analysis; 
    • Standardisation of all Repair Centres; 
    • Ensuring the adherence to processes and procedures relating to stock repairs and refurbishment; and 
    • Ensuring that all warranty procedures are adhered to

    Tech Officer: Cabling Technician

    Core Description

    • The main purpose of this position is to execute cabling related installations, ensuring optimum and cost-effective hardware engineering services while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction

    Key Deliverables / Primary Functions

    • Install and maintain new UTP and fibre data cables, maintain existing data cables, attend to logged project calls as requested by the Call Centre or Cabling Project Team, troubleshoot cabling related problems and ensure that the correct support standards are adhered to. 
    • Assume accountability for the quality of service by ensuring that the customer’s standards and specifications are adhered to and ensuring that BCX Field Services and the Client’s standards are kept through no re-opened incidents.
