Job Purpose

• Evaluating new, existing processes & layouts and configuring manufacturing systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability and develop best practices within the production process.

Key Responsibilities

• Review, update and design the best jigs, Equipment for working production process, create and update shop floor lay out.
• Define better and cost-effective standard tooling for manufacturing.
• Develop equipment’s specification when necessary.
• During ramp up, improve process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards to meet 2 cars per day.
• Develop and implement systems that optimize all phases of production process.
• Update Industrial Maturity Follow Up (IMFU).
• Update Equipment Maturity Follow Up (EMFU).
• Develop innovative solutions and ensure projects are completed on time.
• Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs and changeovers.
• Provide suggestions during incident investigations.
• Analyse issues observed during manufacturing and create action plans using tools like QRQC.
• Development of instruction sheets with all information required on manufacturing process of       each part or assembly.
• Create rework procedures in case of bad quality of something.
• Define consumable materials to be used on manufacturing process and also quantities.
• Process all documentation giving make or buy view (considering structure available on shop floor) and splitting properly all material between workstations.
• Jigs verification during manufacturing phase to ensure good quality parts are produced.
• Participate on concurrent engineering or design reviews always pushing design engineering to have the best design considering QCD. Propose changes and improvements to be implemented on design.
• Create Industrial Data Sheets to analyse each installation considering tools and devices required on manufacturing process, EHS risk analysis, Ergonomics, Method time evaluation and Macro Process. 
• Support method time calculation and task sequences creation.

Minimum Requirements

• B-tech/Degree or ND Mechanical/Industrial.
• Experience in manufacturing (Railway experience will be advantageous). 
• Advanced knowledge of 2D (AutoCAD) & 3D CAD (CATIAV5, ProENG…).

Special Requirements

• 3years + experience in technical investigations, shop floor layouts and assembly work for automotive/rail industries.
• Previous worked in a manufacturing environment.
• Line balancing experience.
• Proven experience - Industrial and lean manufacturing processes.

PURPOSE AND MISSION OF THE JOB:

• Secure the welding processes for welded products. Secure of testing and controlling of welded joints according to EN 15085. Implement correct weld practice on the production line and offer technical support on welding related matters. Assist with welder training and assessments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

TASKS

• Performing the tasks of a level A welding coordinator according in particular to EN 15085 and EN ISO 3834
• Perform in-line welding inspection (before, during and after welding) and offer self-inspection training for welders as part of their on-the-job-training.
• Assist in the review of welding requirements for new projects
• Oversee SOE welder training program and provide relevant support
• Approve welder qualifications
• Participate in technical reviews for various projects
• Ensure correct use of WPSs and work instructions on the production floor
• Ensure traceability of primary parts and welding consumables being utilized on the line
• Assist with failure and root cause analysis on welding related issues

RESPONSIBILITIES

• secure of testing and controlling of welded joints according to EN 15085
• perform regular welding audits on the line to ensure compliance to standards and codes
• blocking of non-conform products, works and processes
• responsible to ensure that the welding activities are performed in accordance with Alstom rules and other appropriate rules, standards, guidelines and laws initiating of corrective or preventive actions

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Matric
• BSc/BEng/BTech in Mechanical/Electrical/Metallurgy/Materials
• MEng in Welding is an added advantage
• International Welding Engineer/Technologist (IWE/T) accreditation

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE

• At least 8 years postgraduate experience of which at least 3 years must be as a welding coordinator.
• Very good knowledge about welding, material and test technology
• Very good knowledge of welding and NDT standards such as EN 15085, EN 15614, ISO 9712, EN 9606, AWS, ASME
• Ability to commit on welding quality and issues and decide on GO/NO GO for production release
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and other technical instructions
• Experience with MS Office tools
• Excellent and concise communication
• Good presentation skills
