    Analyst - Financial Advisers and Intermediaries Department

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Investigate complaints relating to contraventions of the Financial Sector Regulation Act and other sector laws;
    • Ensure that regulatory action is taken when the contravention is confirmed;
    • Liaise with investigators with regard to the investigation process;
    • Deal with debarments of persons who have been found to have materially contravened the FSR Act and /or any sector law;
    • Deal with suspensions and withdrawals of entities authorised in terms of the FAIS Act; and
    • Be able to perform administrative and other activities relating to the regulatory framework.

    Other Key Competencies:

    • Candidates must demonstrate the following skills and attributes: A high level of judgement and a confident and decisive approach; problem analysis, information gathering, communication skills (verbal and written), good interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, customer relations and persuasiveness skills. Good knowledge and/or experience of the functioning of the Financial Sector Regulation Act and other sector laws and knowledge of workflow system is essential.

    Specialist Analyst X 2 - Insurers Supervision Department

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Monitor compliance with legislation to ensure the protection and fair treatment of policyholders by closely managing and supervising a portfolio of   insurance companies and taking necessary action for non-compliance, where applicable and necessary;
    • Responsible for coordinating, planning and conducting thematic, full market conduct on-site inspections including direct engagements with supervised   entities in terms of the risk-based supervision approach, and in line with the departmental supervision objectives and plans;
    • Report on the findings and recommend corrective actions where feasible;
    • Conduct research and provide specialist technical advice both within the department and to other external stakeholders;
    • Liaise and collaborate closely with relevant departments across the organisation, particularly in instances where the entity is supervised by various   departments;
    • Adhere to department policies and processes including service level commitments;
    • Manage and co-ordinate technical projects in the department; and
    • Provide strategic and technical support to the department in respect of the development of a framework for conduct of business supervision.

    Other Key Competencies:

    • The candidate must demonstrate the following skills and attributes: ability to analyse high volumes of data, good attention to detail; good verbal and written communication skills; proactive; ability to work independently, problem solving and analysis skills; information gathering, good administration skills, good interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, good customer relations skills; persuasiveness and must be computer literate.

    Requirements

    • A degree in Law or Insurance Risk Management, with at least 5 years’ experience in an insurance technical, compliance or risk management role. An excellent knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry, and in particular, the insurance industry is required. Experience in a compliance or risk management role within an insurer would be an added advantage. Preference will be given to candidates with a certification in Compliance or Risk Management.

    Income Accountant - Finance Department

    Key Performance Areas:

    • To Reconcile the levy accounts of the Ombuds Council, Tribunal, FAIS Ombuds and PFA.
    • To liaise with the office of the above four entities and provide them with the amount the FSCA has invoiced on their behalf.
    • To reconcile the accounts of the four entities on monthly basis and process payments on monthly/quarterly basis.
    • Responsible for managing the WIP payments of 2606/999 by signing off for the money for fees and levies and reconciling the account on monthly basis.
    • To review credit notes, debit notes, fees usage invoices, refunds, journals and penalties of all the income section.
    • To do Month end closure.
    • Review the monthly write off batches compiled by Senior Credit Controllers.
    • Review monthly interest run on all outstanding levies.
    • Assisting with notes for financial statements.
    • Attending to Internal and External Auditors.
    • Review of levies calculations of all the industries i.e. FAIS, Insurance, Pension etc.

    Other Key Competencies:

    • The candidate must demonstrate the following skills and attributes: A judgement skill and have a confident and decisive approach, good communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, problem analysis, analytical skills, and customer relations skills. Commitment to meet deadlines. Supervisory skills, extensive credit control and bookkeeping up to trial balance are essential. Computer literacy.

    Requirements

    • Matric Certificate plus B Com or B Compt with at least 5 years relevant experience in the financial services sector. Experience in a Finance division will be an advantage
