    Process Engineer - Mill Tugela

    As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for:

    • Reviewing start-up procedures, shut-down procedures, best-operating practices and training manuals. 
    • Identify patterns that could indicate opportunities to improve processes going forward.
    • Develop recommendations on which areas should be investigated further.
    • Conduct detailed root cause analysis by gathering input from multiple sources including alarm data, production floor operators, managers and technical reports. Ensure that documentation is updated and approved.
    • Develop high-level process designs for single plants based on the priorities defined in the projects list for the mill or as assigned by technical managers. Ensure that engineering standards are met in all aspects.
    • Develop detailed process designs for specific processes in one or more parts of the production facility. This includes mass and energy balances, valve sizing and tuning, pump sizing and other technical specifications designed to make processes more efficient.
    • Lead design review meetings by collaborating with other process engineers to conduct peer reviews of new designs. 
    • Create an understanding of environmental standards and engineer improvements with current and future legislative requirements in mind.
    • Lead risk studies (Structured What If Technique – SWIFT, Hazard and Operability Study – HAZOP) for the plant.
    • Review detailed designs prepared by other process engineers from a control effectiveness point of view. 
    • Determine the impact of the process changes on people, processes and systems in place in the plant. Develop actions to address the changes. Work closely with project managers to draw in support from other areas (for example Sappi Learning if there is training required).
    • Oversee the commissioning of new equipment or changed processes. 
    • Work with project managers throughout the implementation of the new processes to obtain feedback on successes and risks. 

    What are we looking for? 

    • Bsc Degree or BTech in Chemical Engineering coupled with pulp and paper experience.
    • 3 - 5 years of process experience in a heavy manufacturing environment.

    DCS / SCADA Technician - Ngodwana Energy

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Optimize and ensure uptime for all DCS equipment, including servers, network components, and storage systems.
    • Perform fault finding and repairs on equipment up to card level, addressing hardware and software issues.
    • Resolve complex plant problems using specialized techniques and equipment to reduce downtime.
    • Manage and implement preventative maintenance and improvements with maintenance teams or contractors.

    • Compliance: Adhere to SHEQ policies and ISO standards; communicate regulatory updates to contractors.

    As a Risk/SHEQ Specialist, your responsibilities will include:

    • Monitoring and advising O&M and other on-site contractors daily to ensure procedural compliance.
    • Conducting compliance audits and inspections, with timely resolution of findings.

    Plant Engineer - Ngodwana Energy

    As a Plant Engineer, you will be responsible to:

    • Maintenance Oversight: Manage the maintenance and safe operation of the plant and equipment, ensuring compliance with O&M Service Provider standards.
    • Technical Leadership: Serve as the engineering leader and technical expert, driving operational excellence.

    Assistant Engineering Planner - Mill Saiccor

    As an Assistant Engineering Planner, you will be responsible for:

    • Create plant maintenance notifications on SAP and update changes as per the notification request form
    • Review all notifications created to ensure all relevant information is captured correctly
    • Create work orders from notifications and release them on a weekly basis as per business process for inclusion in the following weeks maintenance plan, adding relevant revision code for the week
    • Compile a weekly schedule of all planned work and provide it to superintendents for further action
    • Print and issue work orders per artisan and foreman on a weekly basis
    • Receive updates from artisans on the progress of work completed and update notification status including hours spent on planned maintenance
    • Highlight any action required after the work order has been completed to the planner for further escalation
    • Create purchase requisitions for required items and service accept on receipt of items
    • Attend shut meetings and take minutes ensuring all items related to the shut are captured i.e. critical paths, rundown start-up, etc, and identify action items arising from the meeting
    • Release, print, and issue work orders and work packs to all relevant disciplines two days before the shut
    • Print a tracking bar chart for contractors and Sappi resources and assist the planner in updating during the shut
    • Draw regular reports on cost, backlog management, plant objectives and targets, and other plant requirements
    • Compile and distribute weekly capacity planning reports per maintenance superintendent to highlight and address under utilised / overloaded resources with the relevant superintendent
    • Compile, distribute, and analyse a weekly plan compliance report and develop action plans together with the planner and maintenance superintendents
    • Adhere to set record-keeping and document control procedures to comply with legal requirements
    • Assist with the management of plant and infrastructure maintenance costs
    • Analyse maintenance costs to evaluate expenditure and assist area engineers in identifying problem areas
    • Assess committed costs and determine if work orders with PAPO(Paperwork outstanding) status can be completed
    • Maintain high levels of housekeeping within in area of work

    What are we looking for?

    • NQF level 4 qualification (Matric / N3)
    • 1-2 years of relevant experience within an engineering environment
    • Computer literacy (MS Office)
    • SAP PM knowledge and proficiency together with  Awareness of the OHS Act and lockout procedures will be considered advantageous

    Temporary Reliever Paper Lab

    As Temporary Reliever Paper Lab, you will be responsible to:

    • Takes and hands over shift. 
    • Operate process/equipment according to best operating practices. 
    • Complete section specific interventions/initiatives as planned and agreed for all the identified positions for the specific section. 
    • Relieves lab analyst/technicians and carries out all tasks prescribed for these positions. 
    • Ensure accurate reporting by recording all incidents in the shift log book. . 
    • Participates in shift activities (5 why problem-solving etc). 
    • Understand the SHEQ requirements of the job, identify and take corrective action in terms of SHEQ conditions and hazards. 
    • Always maintains a high level of good housekeeping in the workplace.

    Senior Business Administrator - Mpumalanga

    As a Senior Business Administrator, you will be responsible for:

    • Consolidate annual budgets and official forecasts of Regional forestry operations for management review.
    • Update the presentations workbook and compile the budget presentation for the General Manager.
    • Annual upload of budget for Mpumalanga non-Forestry Departments into SAP.
    • Maintain all master data and specifications in the Rainfall system and AIMS, including the application of rates in AIMS.  
    • Monthly review of AIMS audit reports.
    • Export AIMS hectares monthly and upload into SAP.

    • Cost management including the analysis of cost variances to budget/forecast.
    • Assist with the application of mandated annual rate increases.

    • Ensure compliance to all legislation regulating the work environment including SHEQ policies, Sappi procedures, best operating practices and work instructions by suppliers through Stop and Think Before You Act (STBA)

    What are we looking for?

    • Finance/Admin related qualification or NQF 7 qualification
    • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience
    • Strong computer literacy (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
    • SAP knowledge an advantage  
    • Valid Code 08 Drivers license
