    Job Function

    • The Logistics and Distribution Manager is responsible for the effective coordination and planning of the transport schedule with Transport Contractors according to the daily production- and order schedule. The optimisation of loads, routes and personnel are essential to the success of this position whilst keeping up with the production and order demands.

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 certificate and candidates with a relevant tertiary qualification in Logistics - or Supply Chain Management will enjoy preference.
    • Minimum of 5 years Logistic Management experience within the FMCG environment.
    • MS Office Package with a strong focus on Excel

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Daily planning and scheduling of VKB Milling transport needs with external Transport Contractors according to orders as well as plant and product availability.
    • Scheduling drivers and fleet in advance to optimise loads, routes and personnel productivity.
    • Working with the production department to ensure orders get out in time
    • Improve on the efficiency of the fleet by optimal load scheduling and communication with Transport Contractors.
    • Drive down cost by ensuring proper negotiation of transport costs and by keeping record of fleet efficiency, fuel consumption per vehicle.
    • Communicate with external contractors to ensure the timeous delivery of feed.
    • Ongoing communication with departments within the business, personnel, marketers, clients, drivers and contractors to give feedback with regards to deliveries.

    Maintenance Manager - VKB Engineering Services, Douglas

    Job Description

    • The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all maintenance activities within VKB's Engineering Services. Taking accountability for ensuring that all facilities and equipment are properly maintained, repaired, and upgraded to ensure smooth operations and long-term functionality, prioritising preventative maintenance. The Maintenance Manager will also be responsible for managing a team of technicians and allocating resources effectively.

    Requirements

    • Relevant Technical Diploma (Mechanical or Electrical)
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the Silo industry or FMCG
    • Candidate should be a self-starter with innovative technical abilities with strong people skills in order to effectively lead and manage a diverse group of individuals.

    • Develop and implement a proactive maintenance strategy to minimize equipment downtime and maximize productivity.
    • Manage and supervise a team of maintenance technicians, providing guidance, training, and mentoring to ensure they meet performance goals.
    • Create maintenance schedules and coordinate repairs and maintenance activities with minimal disruption to daily operations.
    • Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
    • Oversee the repair and troubleshooting of equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime and maintain optimal efficiency.
    • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and coordinate maintenance activities in line with production or project schedules.
    • Monitor inventory levels of spare parts and equipment and establish relationships with suppliers to ensure timely availability of required items for maintenance.
    • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.
    • Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and potential upgrades or replacements.
    • Develop and manage the maintenance department's budget, including forecasting costs, optimizing spending, and recommending capital expenditures as required.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and other relevant documentation.
