    Associate Professor / Senior Lecturer / Lecturer: Project Management

    Duties/Pligte        

    • Leading and managing teaching on the MBA Project Management stream modules of Project Portfolio Finance, Project Portfolio Management and/or Project Innovations;
    • Supervising postgraduate research at the MBA, Master's, and PhD-level, commensurate with the level of appointment;
    • Managing programmes, including renewal and continuous improvement activities in Project Portfolio Management related modules; student admission, progression, and success on specific project management programmes;
    • Managing and coordinating the delivery of the modules within the postgraduate programmes in on-campus, Hyflex learning and online learning environments; 
    • Developing and strengthening industry relationships and managing executive education and other academic relationships;
    • Developing a research publication agenda and collaborations to publish in international peer-reviewed journals;  
    • Promoting the social impact of Stellenbosch Business School through teaching and research;
    • Supervising postgraduate research at the Master's and PhD-levels, commensurate with the level of appointment;

    Participating in the administration of some departmental activities.
    Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes        
    (For appointment as a Lecturer):

    • Master's degree or MBA with primary focus on Project Management;
    • Relevant Project Portfolio experience, specifically in Project Finance, in the private and/or public sector, along with project management and/or consulting experience;
    • Some experience in teaching, delivery, assessment and student support at postgraduate level in the relevant subject area;
    • Research potential and/or demonstrable ongoing commitment to professional enhancement, scholarship, and publications in the field of Project / Programme / Portfolio Management; 
    • Quantitative and qualitative evidence of teaching experience, including video streaming and online collaboration systems;
    • Good organisational and personal management skills;
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills;
    • Strong networks within the project management industry and industry bodies.

    (For appointment as a Senior Lecturer):

    • PhD in the field of Project / Programme / Portfolio Management;
    • Relevant Project Portfolio experience, specifically in Project Finance, in the private and/or public sector, along with project management and/or consulting experience;
    • An established record of research and research publication in nationally and internationally recognised peer-reviewed journals;
    • Successfully completed postgraduate supervision at Master's level;
    • Experience of teaching and the scholarship of teaching relevant to Project Management;
    • Commitment to creating impact through research and scholarship;
    • Commitment to engaging in academic administration activities;
    • Quantitative and qualitative evidence of teaching experience, including video streaming and online collaboration systems; 
    • Good organisational and personal management skills;
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills;
    • Strong networks within the project management industry and industry bodies.

    (For appointment as an Associate Professor):

    • PhD in the field of Project / Programme / Portfolio Management;
    • Relevant project portfolio experience, specifically in project finance, in the private and/or public sector, along with project management and/or consulting experience;
    • National and international recognition as a researcher;
    • A sustained record of research and research publications in nationally and internationally recognised peer-reviewed journals relevant to Project Management;
    • A record of past research and a future research agenda relevant to Development Finance;
    • Participation in appropriate external professional activities;
    • Supervision and examination at PhD and Master's levels;
    • Teaching and the scholarship of teaching relevant to Project Management, with evidence of or potential for academic leadership of postgraduate programmes;
    • Commitment to creating impact through research and scholarship;
    • Academic management and leadership skills;
    • Quantitative and qualitative evidence of teaching experience;
    • Good organisational and personal management skills;

    • Experience in the design and development of module content and supervising postgraduate students;
    • Postgraduate programme management experience, including student recruitment and admission in a business school and/or executive education environment; 
    • Proven experience of portfolio delivery, including providing portfolio development, project finance and portfolio governance;
    • Proven experience of translating business analysis, requirements definitions and business case production into practical project portfolio implementation;

    Paramedic: Prehospital Clinical Research

    Duties/Pligte        
    The Paramedic: Prehospital Clinical Research will primarily be responsible for the design and execution of nested studies within the larger clinical trial. The incumbent will also be responsible for seeking funding to support additional research activities. The incumbent will be required to monitor and ensure compliance to data collection schedules, protocols and timelines associated with these nested studies. In addition, the incumbent will be required to work clinically to support the recruitment of patients into the parent study, and further ensure protocol compliance.

    • Designing and seeking regulatory approval for nested studies within the larger clinical trial;
    • Designing, executing and evaluating education modules for the parent study as well as nested studies, and ensuring that training is effective and tailored to the specific setting;
    • Seeking additional funding opportunities for nested studies, or studies that stem from the parent trial;
    • Communicating with study sites and other external stakeholders to ensure buy-in, compliance and success of the trial;
    • Coordinating data collection and capturing all sites nationally for nested studies, and supporting other research coordinators in doing this for the parent study;
    • Supporting the project manager in the preparation of internal and external reports;
    • Supporting the project manager in the management and coordination of the trial personnel;
    • Monitoring protocol compliance and adherence to ethical policies;
    • Establishing and maintaining good working relationships between the trial personnel and emergency care personnel;
    • Supervising postgraduate research.

    Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes        

    • At least a master's degree in emergency medicine, epidemiology, or a cognate discipline;
    • Current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as an emergency care practitioner;
    • Willingness to undertake PhD studies.
    • At least five year's demonstrable experience as a paramedic;
    • At least one year's demonstrable experience in the conduct of research or other larger projects;
    • Previous experience as supervisor of research projects at postgraduate level;
    • Demonstrable experience in the management and coordination of healthcare teams;
    • Demonstrable experience in relationship management and communication with internal and external stakeholders;
    • Familiarity with South African trauma systems and epidemiology;
    • Experience with designing, planning, executing and completing clinical research, with particular reference to studies in the prehospital setting;
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
    • Advanced computer literacy;
    • Data collection, management and analysis;
    • The ability to work independently;
    • A valid driver's licence and willingness to travel extensively;
    • A valid South African passport.

    Recommendation/Aanbeveling        

    • PhD in Emergency Medicine, Epidemiology or a related discipline;
    • Project management certification;
    • Current Good Clinical Practice certification;
    • At least one year's demonstrable experience in the coordination of research or other larger projects;
    • A demonstrable publication record;
    • Proficiency in REDCap or other data collection/management software suites.

    Administrative Officer

    Duties/Pligte        

    • Coordinating the full financial administration of the Faculty's scientific travel allocation;
    • Processing purchase orders for visa applications, accommodation, conference and registration fees, daily allowances and refunds for air tickets, local and international;
    • Acting as liaison between Finance and the Faculty with regard to creditor setup and payment of suppliers;
    • Managing the procure-to-pay process for various suppliers;
    • Processing interdepartmental requisitions;
    • Channeling interdepartmental requisitions to various cost centres;
    • Preparing, checking and initiating journal requisitions;
    • Processing foreign payments;
    • Processing central Faculty-related ad hoc salary payments;

    • Proven experience in the processing of large volumes of transactions

    Senior Departmental Officer

    Duties/Pligte        
    The incumbent will be responsible for:

     Finance:

    • Financial administration of the Department as well as research cost centres and projects;
    • Preparing and processing requisitions, claims and requesting journal transfers and advances;
    • Timeous settlement of all invoices according to the terms and conditions of the financial policy of the University;
    • Ordering stationery, furniture, equipment, and supplies;
    • Reconciliation of payments;
    • Processing monthly payments on ad hoc, D20 and the student assistant HR system;
    • Statistics/recordkeeping;
    • Responsible for making financial recommendations to the Head of the Department and Facilities Management;
    • Filing;
    • Budgeting;
    • Maintaining a good financial relationship with suppliers and staff members;
    • Maintaining the financial policies and regulations of the University;
    • Sharing financial communication with staff members during meetings;
    • Responsible for registration fees, conference/congress bookings (local and international) and making travel arrangements for staff and students;
    • Preparing fixed-term contracts for part-time staff;

    Assisting colleagues with setting up cost centres via the financial office.
    Client Service:

    • Effective communication liaising telephonically and via email;
    • Making referrals and recommendations to staff and students;

    Networking to promote the Department.
    Administration:

    Assisting with information for the departmental webpage.
    Ad Hoc Projects:

    • Arranging catering and meal packs for staff meetings and field trips of students;

    Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes        

    • Diploma in Financial Accounting or a related field;
    • At least three years' experience in administration of which at least one year should be within a similar environment;
    • Applicable experience with the University's or similar tertiary institution's information and administrative systems;
    • Experience in preparing and managing departmental budgets, conducting budget reviews, and providing recommendations for financial efficiency;
    • Experience in establishing and maintaining internal controls, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and mitigating financial risks.
