    Protection Services Officer Specialised

    The Protection Services Officer Specialized role is a specialist position that conduct criminal and departmental investigations within Anglo American Platinum. The role reports to the Protection Services Senior Superintendent and is expected to apply best practices in investigative techniques in order to identify and apprehend suspects, recover losses and advise on the minimization breaches of security.

    This is a team supervisory role and will be responsible for supervising and developing the team of Protection Services members, within an Anglo American Platinum Operation to ensure that they perform their duties and that employees and assets are protected within the law. Investigation support and emergency protection duties will be part of the activities of this role.

    Personal risk is a factor in the role due to criminal investigations, armed response, VIP - and product escorts and Counter Industrial Action situations.

    This role is at our Operations at a C4 level reporting to the Protection Services Senior Superintendent.

    Qualifications

    Certificates to be attached with your application:

    • Grade 12.
    • Registered with PSIRA Grade B.
    • Certificate in Investigation: Policing/Security/Law.
    • Handgun, Shotgun and Riffle certified (including SAPS competency).
    • Armed response qualification.
    • Valid driving licence.
    • Tactical Unit Standard Qualification (advantageous).

    Experience:

    • Minimum 4 years experience in Security or equivalent environment of which 2 years should be in Investigation/Intelligence.
    • 2 years experience in a Supervisory position.
    • CCTV surveillance systems and control room experience.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Presentation and handling of evidence in court/disciplinary hearing and investigation of crime.
    • Basic knowledge of applicable business reports writing and statement taking.
    • Advanced level of computer literacy: MS Office.
    • Basic knowledge of applicable business communication.
    • English proficient – Write, speak and read.
    • No criminal record.
    • Pass Polygraph test.
    • Conscientious and Disciplined.
    • Discretion and Confidentiality.
    • Problem solving skills.
    • Crime analysis applications systems or Crime intelligence, analysis, investigation and/or information management related applications).

    Practitioner Operational Risk

    The operational risk management (ORM) business process is a key business process supporting the achievement of operational objectives at Anglo American Platinum (AAP) operations. The Operational Risk function with AAP supports the organisations capability to manage risk and exploit opportunities. To provide operational support in the implementation and execution of ORM at mining and process operations.

    You must have experience in:

    • Minimum of 5 years relevant operational mining, processing, and engineering related experience
    • Detailed understanding of the Platinum value chain and operational trends and risks.
    • An understanding of the operational aspects associated with mining operations, more specifically processing in the mining industry
    • Demonstrated understanding of risk management within a technical environment
    • Knowledge and experience with risk assessment techniques such as WRAC, Bowtie Analysis, HAZOP/HAZAN and other industry recognised techniques and tools.
    • Track record of interfacing with and influencing colleagues and coordinating disciplines relevant to risk management.
    • Knowledge of safety, health and environment policies, procedures and the important role of consistently demonstrating required behaviours and championing safety values

    Qualifications
    You will need the following:

    • Must have a National Diploma in a relevant discipline or equivalent (such as sciences, engineering or other related careers)
    • Advantageous: Courses in management systems (9001, 14001, 18001/45001), risk qualification, audit qualification
    • Must be fluent in English
    • Must have Code EB drivers licence
    • Regional and domestic travel may be required
    • Working on operational mine and process sites (both processing operations, open pit and underground) will be required. This may involve activities of a physical nature in a typical mine environment (for example noise, vibration, heat, small spaces, reduced visibility)
    • Must be computer literate (MS Office suite etc.)
    • Ability to use operational risk management system for input and data analysis (e.g. Enablon, Bowtie XP, Isometrix, CURA, IHS, etc.)
    • Translate recommendations into tangible operational outcomes
    • Collaborative, excellent communication skills, proactive team-work, orderly work, assertive negotiation, conflict solving, influence and persuasion in decision-making
    • Good analytical skills and attention to detail
    • If successful, you will be required to undergo a Medical Fitness Test

    Ignite Incubation - Technical Lead

    The purpose of this role is to provide technical leadership in developing, maintaining and curating the technical discipline/engineering standards that are applied by all engineering staff engaged in delivering technical products or services in the Ignite™ Incubation function. The role works in conjunction with the Technology Incubation and Research Leads to coordinate the processes, systems and structures required to ensure scientific and engineering best practice is followed, technical quality requirements are met, systems are standardised and regulatory compliance achieved.
    The Technical Lead will also liaise extensively with the Ignite™ Commercial Technology Group to provide guidance and feedback on the implementation and effectiveness of appropriate standards and processes to ensure that equipment designed by the Ignite™ Incubation Group may be successfully and reliably manufactured by the Ignite™ Commercial Technology Group.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Accountable for building and managing an internal network of technical subject matter experts into a Community of Practice (CoP) for each technical discipline, allowing emerging concepts, techniques, best practice, training standards and experience to be collected, shared and implemented appropriately.
    • Responsible for signing the Declaration of Conformity which confirms that a product designed and manufactured by De Beers Ignite™ in the UK achieves appropriate regulatory compliance for any countries into which it is to be put into service and that relevant compliance marks (UKCA, CE etc.) have been legally applied.
    • Create and communicate to the Ignite Incubation team clear guidance on Statute, Regulation and technical standards.
    • Provide input to project initiation, planning and specification discussions.
    • Responsible for quality sign-off at stage gate and technology readiness level reviews for development projects.
    • Develop and promote departmental ‘best practice’ standards associated with technical disciplines.
    • Coordinate the review and quality assurance of all technical work produced by the development teams.
    • Provide advice on the selection and promotion of the software platforms used within De Beers Ignite™ to ensure effective and efficient working across all De Beers Ignite™ sites and that such platforms are used correctly to deliver consistent high quality results.

    Qualifications
    Formal Qualifications:

    • BEng. or MSc. Qualification in any of the technical disciplines relevant to Ignite Incubation.

    Role-specific Knowledge:

    • Demonstrable experience in a similar role implementing standards for engineers and technical professionals.
    • Minimum of 10 years experience, including complete product life cycle experience from initial specification through unit design, test, integration, system test, commission, regulatory approval and production.
    • Experience in conducting peer reviews, mentoring of staff ,departmental consultancy.

    Engineering Planner Asset Management

    You will take on a range of different maintenance tasks under the direction of your manager and implementing work management which drives the work that need to be planned, scheduled and resourced ahead of time to ensure operational effectiveness

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Review TSR and identify all newly scheduled work
    • Prioritizing planning tasks based on scheduled dates
    • Building fully specified work package for all new work order
    • Obtain technical/ specialist/ team input to the planning
    • Execute daily planning allocation of work focus
    • Compare planned work package to original work approval parameters and assumption
    • You need to finalise work package planning and update the work orders in SAP/TSR

    This role is in the Engineering Department at a C5 Level reporting to the Resident Engineer
    Qualifications

    • Grade 12/ N3 (Technical Matric)
    • Relevant Trade Certificate (any Trade Certificate)

    To be successful, you will have the following experience:

    • 2 to 3 years relevant planning experience in the mining or process industry
    • Valid Drivers License
    • Computer literate
    • SAP PM/ERP will be advantageous
