    Program Manager

    Position Responsibilities

    • Build Partnerships: Sustain existing and develop new partnerships with employers, sector stakeholders, program partners and potential funders.
    • Execute on Strategy: Execute upon a long-term strategy to maximize our impact on Agribusiness in Africa whilst thinking about your own vision for the network and what it could become (entrepreneurial thinking).
    • Program management: Manage the sector success and sector challenge programs to maximize and develop leadership skills and build professional development skills around Agribusiness related themes.
    • Grow the Network: Develop and implement an effective network engagement strategy that will enable diverse stakeholders to connect and collaborate consistently to innovate and improve Agribusiness in Africa.
    • External Communications: Articulate the philosophies and approaches of AL for Agribusiness programs and the resulting impact of network members on the wider Agribusiness ecosystem in Africa. Provide thought leadership and represent AL for Agribusiness in global conferences, talks and Agribusiness networks to share learnings and build relationships.
    • Stakeholder Partnerships: Manage relationships with key partners and funders.
    • Get stuck in: Participate in program design and delivery, providing coaching, program and event facilitation and coordination as necessary for program success and as a means of engaging network members.
    • Defines project outcomes across multiple project streams, with increasing degrees of project complexity and task uncertainty. Interprets vague information and interdependencies. Builds strong rhythms to support team management and delivery.
    • Assume accountability for work delegated to others. Lead performance management and review of team members. Interpret HR policies and ensure their implementation. Ensure exceptional candidate experiences and drive hiring processes. Capable of difficult and crucial conversations
    • Projecting budgetary requirements and reporting. Managing needs of a range of projects. Able to manage grant performance.
    • Actively builds external relationships that will attract the time, treasure, and talent required to build their program. Identifies, serves, and follows up with prospective customers, partners, and stakeholders

    Profile of the ideal candidate

    • Partnership builder: you build win-win partnerships and have the experience of fundraising for non-profit and/or for-profit organizations.
    • Demonstrate leadership: you identify, evaluate, and execute on high-impact opportunities using entrepreneurial thinking.
    • Program Development Skills: Ability to design or create initiatives, events and programs that will contribute to, and build the Agribusiness network.
    • Highly organized project manager: Ability to plan and deliver on projects timeously. Good planning, priority, and organisational skills, especially when under tight deadlines
    • You have a strong existing network in the Agribusiness space and are passionate about building and sustaining relationships and networks, especially on the African continent.
    • Experience managing complex projects with multiple workstreams.
    • Written and verbal communication skills. Experience with public speaking, report writing, proposals, published written work, as well as developing communication strategies and plans.
    • Marketing skills: Must have effective communication skills for marketing blurbs, social media posts, newsletter writing and sharing stories of impact.
    • Stakeholder Management skills: Ability to confidently work with multiple stakeholders at different levels in organisations, to advance progress and execute on program ideas, both internally and externally.
    • Professional development skills: Ability to manage and recognise young, highly skilled, ambitious talent (potentially in their first job) with a strong growth trajectory and provide guidance/coaching as needed.
    • Data Management and Analysis skills: CRM Data management, generating analytics that can be used for reporting. (Salesforce knowledge an advantage.)
    • Facilitation and coordination skills: Ability to convene and manage events and workshops to drive network engagement

    Desired Experience

    • Post Grad degree in an Agribusiness - related discipline
    • 5+ years of experience working in or advising Agribusiness organizations.
    • Management experience in an Agribusiness-related field is a requirement.
    • Must have industry knowledge and a broad understanding and knowledge of Agribusiness development challenges and opportunities facing the African continent.
    • An awareness about career opportunities and pathways in Agribusiness through the lens of leadership development and be passionate and eager to engage in continuous learning and networking in the field.

    Senior Program Associate

    Position Responsibilities

    • Project Management: Assumes project ownership with demonstrated attention to detail and thoughtful gathering, organizing, and interpretation of data
    • Internal Stakeholder relationships: Must engage with various departmental and cross-functional teams.  Supports recruitment and interviewing
    • Payment processing: Procurement and processing of payments, correct allocations as per the budget, avoids needless spending and identifies opportunities for savings
    • Relationship Management: Comfortable sharing ALA with the outside world; consistently and clearly communicates mission and model; identifies prospective customers, partners, and stakeholders in network.
    • Program Coordination: Ability to coordinate initiatives, events and programs that will contribute to, and build the network.
    • Highly organized facilitator: Ability to plan and deliver on programs and projects timeously. Able to plan, prioritize with good organisational skills.

    Desired Experience

    • A degree in a related discipline. A postgraduate degree will be an added advantage.

    Geography and Humanities Teacher

    Key tasks and responsibilities:

    Teaching

    • Teach students according to their educational needs, including the personalized planning and marking of work to be carried out by each student in accordance with school policy.
    • Set appropriate, realistic yet demanding expectations for each student learning, building on their prior attainment/knowledge.
    • Ensure that the seven traits are reflected in the learning experience of students.
    • Assess, record and report on the attendance, progress, development and attainment of students and to keep such records as are required.
    • Ensure a high-quality learning experience for students that meets internal and external quality standards.
    • Use a variety of delivery methods which will stimulate learning appropriate to student needs and demands of the syllabus.
    • Track student progress and use information to inform teaching and learning.
    • Maintain discipline in accordance with the school’s procedures, and encourage good practice with regard to punctuality, behaviour, appearance, and standards of work.

    Planning and Preparation

    • Assist in the development of appropriate syllabi, resources, schemes of work, marking policies and teaching strategies in the curriculum area and department.
    • Contribute to the curriculum area and department’s development plan and its implementation.
    • Plan and prepare carefully differentiated courses, lessons and resources that follow the school’s approach to curriculum design and implementation.

    You may serve as a faculty advisor for up to 12 students as they navigate a transformative journey of academic, personal, and social growth. In this role you will be expected to:

    • Promote the general progress and well-being of all students, particularly those within the designated Advisory Group.
    • Liaise with the Student Success Team and Heads of Year to ensure the implementation of the school’s student support system.
    • Evaluate and monitor the progress of students and keep up-to-date student records as may be required.
    • Contribute to the preparation of individual education plans, progress files and other reports.
    • Alert the appropriate staff to problems experienced by students and make recommendations as to how these may be resolved.
    • Apply the school’s behaviour management and safeguarding systems effectively and accurately.
    • Communicate effectively with the parents of students as appropriate.

    • Take part in the school’s staff development program by participating in arrangements for further training and professional development.
    • Continue your professional development in the relevant areas including subject knowledge, teaching methods and curriculum-based training provided by examination boards.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Fully qualified with an appropriate education degree, or a Bachelor’s degree and an internationally recognised high-quality postgraduate qualification in education.
    • A minimum of three years teaching experience.
    • Evidence of relevant and challenging continuing professional development.

    Desirable

    • Post-graduate qualifications in education
    • Experience in a school delivering the Cambridge A’Level Geography curriculum or equivalent (e.g IBDP)
    • Experience teaching more than one subject in the Humanities (Geography plus one other)
    • Experience teaching students in the 16 – 18 age range
    • Experience in international education
    • Previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
    • The ability to offer more than one subject in the Humanities (Geography/African Studies)
    • Knowledge of the digital culture of schools, able to use new technologies through innovative, future-focused methodologies
    • Knowledge of the rapidly changing sector internationally.
